Are you passionate about bikes and their ability to shift hearts, minds and other stuff?

If so, Cargo Bike Movement is looking for new board members and we would like to hear from you!

Cargo Bike Movement is a charitable organisation based in Edinburgh with a mission to develop the use of cargo bikes in our built up areas to:

  • Redistribute surplus supermarket produce to those most in need
  • Loan cargo bikes to individuals and organisations so that they might rely less on cars or vans in our
  • city centre
  • Run events and engagements that promote this sustainable, affordable and healthy way to travel.

Responsibilities:

  • advocating for Cargo Bike Movement
  • overseeing the management and strategic development of Cargo Bike Movement, which is delivered on a day to day basis by a Project Manager, Mechanic, Volunteer Coordinator and a team of volunteers
  • supporting the Project Manager of Cargo Bike Movement in managing operational risk
  • approving the priorities for Cargo Bike Movement and overseeing delivery of these priorities;
  • overseeing legal and financial compliance and ensuring good governance in accordance with Cargo Bike Movements constitutive documents;
  • evaluating performance against priorities.

Time commitment:

  • attendance at board meetings approximately every 4 weeks face to face or via video call. Meetings are usually held on weekday evenings and last 1.5 hours.
  • attendance at the AGM
  • occasional ad hoc support of the delivery team
  • attendance at occasional strategy or team building events, usually no more than twice a year

  • willingness and ability to commit the time required and share knowledge and experience

We are particularly interested to hear from those with finance, fundraising, business or marketing experience or training. We would equally like to hear from those in our communities who might have volunteered with us and understand the importance of what we do.

Previous board experience is not essential.

We are keen to recruit trustees from diverse backgrounds.
