About the Team
Our three Communities Teams are responsible for identifying, investigating and intervening in housing and homelessness practice issues. We engage with our local communities to understand the issues people are facing and apply expert housing knowledge, insight and analysis to identify solutions to them. As well as providing advice and advocacy for individuals, we also use our insight, relationships and influence to drive systemic change, always ensuring that Lived experience is at the heart of everything we do.
About the role
As a Housing Rights Worker, you’ll be responsible for delivering high quality housing advice and advocacy in our offices, in community settings and remotely in line with local pressing issues. That will involve developing relationships within communities through a range of interactions, including attendance at meetings, events and 121 engagement. It will also involve engaging, enabling and empowering people with lived experience of homelessness to share their story, give their views and participate in interventions at a local and national level. Working alongside a range of stakeholders to deliver advice and rights promotion workshops and delivering 2nd Tier advice to other services to build their capacity to act on behalf of their service users will be important too. And, when it comes to harnessing strong relationships with external partners or recording stories, data and evidence to develop insight that helps us drive systems change, again, well count on you.
About you
Already with some relevant experience, you’re used to working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, have great time management skills and enjoy collaborating with people from other teams and organisations. The ability to listen to, engage and empower individuals and communities will be key. So will your willingness to challenge practice and hold people to account – including influencing decision makers. Adept at presenting information and arguments in clear and compelling ways, you have a real enthusiasm for delivering workshops and presentations too. What’s more, you’re a creative problem solver with an innate ability to gather evidence and identify insights, issues and trends and are proficient using Word, Excel, email, the internet and in-house CRM systems.

This exciting and new role within the Rock Trust involves contributing to the new National Upstream project (homelessness prevention model).
Upstream is an innovative schools-based preventive model that utilises a universal screening tool to identify and support students at risk of homelessness.
The role requires skills inclusive of excellent communication skills, the ability to establish and nurture key partnerships and relationships with stakeholders, work directly with young people to provide emotional and practical support on a 1:1 basis in schools, at home and/or within the community.

Shelter Scotland is seeking a new Managing Principal Solicitor to lead the Shelter Scotland Housing Law Service. This is an exciting opportunity to head up a dynamic team of talented specialist housing solicitors.
The role will require strong leadership supervising and managing strategic litigation pursuing complex or novel points of law. The team have been at the forefront of some of the most influential pieces of strategic housing legal work in Scotland over the years. A keen interest in developing and testing the law in this area will be a key attribute for the role.

As Managing Principal Solicitor, you will:
- Lead the Shelter Scotland Housing Law Service to achieve, and evidence progress towards the strategic goals of the organisation.
- Manage the day-to-day running and operations of the Shelter Scotland Housing Law Service, including people, practice and financial management, and compliance with Law Society rules.
- Be instrumental in ensuring the service provided is of a consistently high quality, providing support, oversight, development and motivation to the team to enable them to reach their full potential and realise their career goals.

Currently, Shelter Scotland Housing Law Service operates as a sole practitioner firm, with a wider legal team who are both lawyers and lay people. All individuals are employed by Shelter Scotland, with the Principal Solicitor or their nominee entitled to take part in the recruitment of firm staff. Whilst the Firm undertakes to operate within the policies and parameters of Shelter Scotland, it is the Firm’s responsibility to comply with LSS compliance and obligations to maintain its registration with the LSS.

The Mental Health Foundation is recruiting for a Project Officer to support our exciting Art of Family Life project.
This exciting Project Officer role will coordinate the delivery of the ‘Art of Family Life’ project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. This role will take an innovative approach to bringing together heritage learning to positively impact on the wellbeing of people from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds living in Scotland. Key tasks of the role will include recruiting volunteers and sessional workers to support an oral history collection programme. This will be followed by a creative process to explore how the heritage of family life among families from refugee backgrounds can be curated and shared publicly.
What does the role involve?
- Promoting the programme to a wide range of audiences including with refugee led community organisations
- Coordinating with project partners and supporters including Oral History Centre at the University of Strathclyde, Common Ground at the Centre for Contemporary Arts and Glasgow Life and organising project events
- Recruiting and supporting sessional workers volunteers to promote and engage project activities
- Collect project impact data and support reporting to funder(s) on progress and finances
Requirements
What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for?
- Good knowledge and understanding of volunteering
- Experience of working within the heritage/cultural/community sector
- Experience of developing and delivering events and activities
- Experience of developing partnerships and maintaining relationships with external organisations

Working as part of our innovative Housing First for Youth Team, The Project Worker will work directly with young people to coordinate and provide emotional and practical support. Providing an assertive outreach approach the Project Worker will Work with young people to secure and manage their own permanent home, providing support in their home and in their local community to ensure that a young person’s experience of homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring.
The Project Worker will support young people to improve their practical independent living skills, access other services and to reach their full potential. Project Workers are responsible for completing support plans and risk assessments and are the main contact for any key people involved in the care and support of young people.
