Role

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) are now recruiting a Chair to lead the Agency Board in setting out its strategic direction and public service delivery for the future of our environment.

The twin challenges of the climate and nature emergencies require strong leadership and influence that can bring people together to achieve transformation and deliver on strategy. This is the role of the Chair of Scotland’s principal environmental regulator.

For the future of our environment

As Scotland’s environment agency, we help to protect the environment and communities from harm, adapt to a changing climate, improve the quality of our environment for people and nature, avoid the risk of flooding to new communities and businesses and warn existing communities and businesses that are at risk from the effects of flooding.

Skills and experience

Do you have experience of leading high performance teams based on collaboration? Can you inspire innovation and encourage diverse thinking? This is the kind of leader we’re seeking to take on the role of Chair.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide evidence of a range of skills including:

  • Leadership.
  • Strategy.
  • Governance.
  • Communication and influencing.

We want our Board to reflect the diversity of the modern communities we serve and value the benefits of having different experience and points of view on our Board. We particularly welcome applications from women, disabled people, LGBT+ people, people from ethnic minority communities and people aged under 50.
