Role

Paths for All is a Scottish Charity. We have a very clear focus. We want to get Scotland walking: Everyone. Everyday. Everywhere.

Our vision is for Scotland to be a walking nation. We want everyone to have the opportunity to be active every day, creating a happier, healthier and greener Scotland. A key element of this work involves supporting development of paths and environments that are accessible for everyone to enjoy active lives.

Our Active Environments Team provides advice, support, training and funding to a wide audience including community organisations, community groups, outdoor access, and active travel professionals on improving local paths throughout Scotland. Having access to good quality, well maintained community paths networks close to where people live is essential for encouraging everyone to be active. Welcoming, safe, inclusive, and accessible outdoor environments can improve our physical, mental and social health by allowing people to be physically active outdoors and helping people to connect with and get closer to nature.

This role offers the rare opportunity to lead our Active Environments Team and help empower communities in Scotland to take the lead in creating, promoting, and maintaining safe, welcoming community paths and active routes for everyone. Through experience of programme management and strategic development there will be a specific focus on community engagement, climate adaptation and nature connectedness. This role will further develop these areas of work and support the team to provide technical guidance training, advice and funding opportunities to external audiences.

Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in a community/ environmental / access development role along with the ability to communicate well with a diverse range of audiences.

We offer the opportunity to be part of an organisation that recognises staff as our most valued asset. Attractive employment conditions include a contributory pension scheme and flexi-time policy. Paths for All has achieved the Healthy Working Lives Gold Award.
