The Community Activity Organiser will work 35 hours per week based in our established Dementia Resource Centre in Helensburgh, seeking out opportunities for people living with dementia to remain connected to their communities. The post holder will also be responsible for developing and facilitating a wide range of community activities for people living with dementia and their carers/families with a view to helping them to maintain social activities, relationships and community connections
Successful candidates will have a positive approach to dementia supported by excellent communication and networking skills and an empathic, positive attitude. Having a creative flair and being a self-starter would also be an advantage as well as having experience of working with people with dementia. A willingness to develop through ongoing learning is essential.
Although this post is based in Helensburgh, the Community Activities Organiser will be expected to support people living with dementia and their carers across Argyll and Bute. There will therefore be a requirement for a blended approach which will involve both facilitating face to face groups in Helensburgh (both indoors and outdoors) as well as a significant remit for facilitating online groups and activities to enable people across Argyll and Bute to have access. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required and a driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential to the role.
