Role

Based in the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, we strengthen the voice and realise the rights of patients and former patients through independent collective advocacy.

An exciting opportunity has opened up within our small, friendly and flexible team, for four (4) Human Rights Educators who will use their highly effective educational and advocacy skills to deliver a human rights awareness-raising programme, primarily to professional staff and people with lived experience of mental health issues, all supported and managed by a Senior Educator (please see separate application if interested in this senior post).

Applications are encouraged from all people with lived experience of using, or caring for people who use, mental health services. The Patients Council offices are fully accessible.

The post requires membership of the PVG scheme, as per the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007

The Patients Council is part of the MORE-P (Mind Our Rights Education programme) in partnership with CAPS and the Edinburgh Carers Council.
