Role

ORSAS is an intersectional feminist, trauma-informed organisation with human rights at our core and these values inform everything we do. We provide free and confidential practical & emotional support and advocacy to anyone in Orkney, of any gender (age 13+), who has been affected by sexual violence at any time in their life. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in communication and have a sound knowledge of the impact of rape, sexual abuse and exploitation on survivors.

Job Purpose

The Equality Hub & Communication Worker will be responsible for the effective running of the ORSAS Equality Hub, which hosts displays on the topics of feminism, equality and human rights. The Hub is a “Keep Safe” space of safety and a Third Party Hate Crime reporting Centre.

  • The worker, in co-operation with the Trustees, Service Manager, Staff team and Service Users at ORSAS, will develop and implement an Equality Hub & Communication Strategic Plan, including social media, topic displays, fundraising & promotional events
  • Integral to ORSAS’ charitable aims this post has a focus on education and prevention improving community response to survivors, reducing stigma and campaigning for the eradication of sexual violence.
  • As part of improving our communication and engagement with our remote and rural community a number of service improvements have been identified and these would be led by the worker, alongside any other actions identified by the worker herself as part of the Equality Hub and Communication Strategic Plan.
