Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of an innovative Bail Support Service within South Lanarkshire Council which will be run in partnership with Blue Triangle Housing Association, South Lanarkshire Council Housing Department and SWD Criminal Justice Service. This new pilot service will initially be until 31 December 2021, with a view to it being extended after the initial 6-month trial period.

The position will be an outreach intensive support role based within South Lanarkshire to specifically support service users released from court on bail in an identified temporary furnished flat within the local area. All referrals will come via South Lanarkshire Council.

You should be a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced support worker with the skills to be proactive and be able to use your own initiative. Ideally you will have an understanding and knowledge of the Criminal Justice system. This is a great opportunity to further develop your skills and experience and be part of an exciting new service and be involved in developing this service from the beginning.

This post will be 35 hours per week and you must have the flexibility to work in the evenings if and when required and on occasional weekend’s dependant on service user’s needs.

You will have an SVQ3 qualification in social care. Other essentials include: experience of working with vulnerable people, addiction issues and challenging behaviour; effective written and verbal communication; knowledge of homelessness issues; and, above all, the determination to make a difference in the lives of our service users.

If successful, you will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within 6 months of your start date. After registration, there is a requirement to be qualified and to maintain professional learning.
