Role

Bike for Good is seeking an experienced Skills & Development Practitioner to join our award-winning team and help us change lives through cycling!

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a project of cycling activities and volunteer development opportunities specifically for New Scots (asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants with NRPF) living in Glasgow and the surrounding areas. This will aid Bike for Good to achieve our vision, mission and values. The Coordinator will focus on improving the life chances of the service users by achieving the outcomes of:

  1. Reduced isolation of participants through the provision of regular social activities in a welcoming community environment.
  2. Improved physical health of participants through bicycle access and group physical activity.
  3. Improved mental health of participants through the provision of learning opportunities, worthwhile activities to fill their time, and the creation of a community of like-minded individuals.
  4. Improved motivation and future prospects of participants through access to practical and vocational training and qualifications, as well as the development of soft skills such as communication and teamwork.

We are looking for someone who is inspired to make a difference to others and the local community. Candidates should be passionate about increasing the number of people who choose to cycle as their main mode of travel and raising awareness of the benefits of cycling. Candidates should be inspired to share their skills with the New Scots community, and in supporting participants to develop their own pathways for learning.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering community cycling activities and will be from, or have worked with, the New Scots community.

A two year contract is available thank you to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.
