To further our work turning policy into action on climate change, biodiversity and environmental inequality, we are pleased to be recruiting for a Communications Officer.

Working in the Strategy Directorate, the Communications Officer will play a vital role in raising awareness of our work and demonstrating the impact of programmes including the CSGN to our funders, partners and other stakeholders.

In addition to implementing our Communications Strategy, you will be producing regular content and growing our digital presence. We are therefore looking for an experienced and skilled communicator with a creative flair and good planning and organisational skills to join our team.

Introduction

This Comms and Marketing role offers an exciting opportunity to be a catalyst in creating fairer, greener, healthier communities through supporting Cargo Bike Movement’s work in and around the City of Edinburgh.

Cargo Bike Movement is a unique Community Interest Company that reduces the number of everyday car and van journeys. Our work prompts people to replace these journeys with cargo bikes, to encourage healthier and safer communities.

This role will support the Project Manager of Cargo Bike Movement to oversee the external communications and marketing of community events, cargo bike loans, training and other activities.

Main roles and responsibilities

Communication and Marketing

• Lead on day-to-day social media and communications for Cargo Bike Movement.
• Develop marketing strategy based on project outcomes and milestones.
• Work with media outlets to promote Cargo Bike Movement’s activities and projects.
• Maintain existing, and developing new, relationships with partner organisations.
• Support and deliver promotional events, and work with the local community to increase the profile of cargo bikes.
• Support to develop Cargo Bike Movement’s website.
• Support research and evaluation processes to develop further understanding of Cargo Bike Movement’s activities.

Cargo Bike Hub

• Support the development and running of the centralised Cargo Bike Movement Hub, based in Edinburgh.
• Work collaboratively to ensure the Cargo Bike Movement Hub is shared considerately between partner organisations and support the Project Manager with the booking, use, and upkeep of the space.

About the role

The Head of Policy and Communications leads the full range of SIDA’s policy work: engaging with members and external stakeholders, recognising and acting on opportunities for influence, and leading influencing and communications with key audiences. The jobholder will also be responsible for the organisation’s communications strategy with a focus on encouraging greater interaction with members and raising awareness of global citizenship with the wider public.

The jobholder works with the Chief Executive on policy development, political engagement and organisational strategy development.

They also share with the Chief Executive the role of representing the organisation in the public domain - to the media and in key forums and networks - with a particular focus on driving progress on the UN SDGs, building cross-sectoral partnerships and collaborations, and enhancing policy coherence for sustainable development, including in the context of the climate crisis and delivering a wellbeing economy.

Greener Kirkcaldy is a community-led charity working locally to bring people together, take positive action on the climate emergency and support people through fuel poverty and food insecurity. We deliver a range of projects, events and skills training to achieve the needs and goals of local people – building resilience as a community and working towards a future where everyone can live better and tread more lightly on our planet.

Based in the heart of Kirkcaldy – with a community building, training kitchen, bike shop and garden – we carry out activities across Kirkcaldy and work with partners to deliver projects across Fife.

The role

We are looking for the right person to join us as a permanent, full-time Administrator.

You will be the first point of contact for visitors to our community building. You'll be responsible for making people feel welcome and engaged. Reporting to our Office Manager, you will have a key role in our Core Team and supporting other teams in the organisation.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly-organised person who can grow into the role. You don’t need to be an expert in climate change or have significant experience of administration. We will provide the training you need and a great team to support you.
