Role

Connect Community Trust is a vibrant social enterprise and over the last 17 years has exceeded expectations on many levels through the empowerment of local people and innovative regeneration work in the Greater Easterhouse and East End of Glasgow.

The Employability & Training Officer will be responsible for helping local people remove barriers to employment, education, volunteering and training and move into or closer to work. You will engage and manage a caseload of local people to address these barriers by providing core employability support, helping to identify opportunities and supporting each individual through their personal journey.

This position is a core part of our organisations continued vision to increase employability skills of local people and ultimately, move people into work.

The Trust operates 2 community facilities within Greater Easterhouse and Re-Connect a furniture re-use and recycling project in the Parkhead area. With over 70 weekly services the range of opportunities is extensive and has helped many people achieve positive outcomes for themselves and the wider community.

You will need to thrive on a challenge and have the drive, enthusiasm and experience to support and motivate people who are at different stages of their personal journey. With the ultimate aim of helping people to successfully complete and enjoy their time on our employability and training provision and in to work, further education or other personal goals.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • One to one engagement, providing core employability skills
  • Development and delivery of relevant training / workshops
  • Linking people into suitable internal and external opportunities
  • Recording and reporting on key data for funders
  • Support to line managers to maximise experience and opportunities for clients

We are looking for someone with previous employment support experience who has excellent motivational and organisational skills. A person who is able to assess needs of clients and take a person-centred approach to delivery.
