Are you excited by the prospect of taking a leading role at a young, successful charity with bags of ambition and potential? Are you also passionate about redressing social inequity, and do you view education as one of the most effective ways of achieving that goal? Would you like to join a supportive, inclusive, collaborative team? If so, Light Up Learning (LUL) is looking for someone who is enthusiastic and driven as its full-time Head of Mentoring and Operations, leading a growing team of enthusiastic mentors, running the operations of the organisation, and reporting directly to the Board.
This is an important role at Light Up Learning, with a focus on the quality of mentoring and the safeguarding of young people. The Head of Mentoring and Operations will be our lead child protection officer and be responsible for delivering the core work of the charity.
As this post involves day to day management and supervision of staff that work with young people, you will be required to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland if successful at interview. We will process this for you. Employment will be confirmed after successful completion of this and any other necessary checks including references.
Light Up Learning has a commitment to diversity and challenging all forms of inequality. We would be particularly keen to encourage applicants from Women, Black Minority and Ethnic, LGBTQI, disabled, migrant, and other backgrounds currently underrepresented within leadership roles in the third sector.
If you have any specific access requirements or concerns, for example needing documents in different formats, please let us know and we will do our best to meet your needs.
To apply for this role, please complete our application form, which can be downloaded from here and also complete our anonymous equal opportunities form here bit.ly/LULEqOpps. The application deadline is Thursday 8 April 2021 (23:59). Interviews will take place on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 April 2021.
The interview process will involve a short informal conversation with some of the young people we work with, a short presentation (the question will be shared when you're invited to interview) and a formal interview.
If you have any questions or want to discuss the role please contact our Board Chair, Dr Helen Wright (email address: helen@lightuplearning.org).
