As the Sue Ryder Influencing Team continues to punch above its weight, we are now looking to strengthen what we do by recruiting for the new post of Policy and Public Affairs Manager. You will work as part of a team to influence models of care for people who are living with a terminal illness, living with a neurological condition or dealing with a bereavement.
About the role
This is an exciting time to join the small and dynamic Influencing Team as the Policy and Public Affairs Manager. Reporting to the Head of Influencing, you will play a vital role in helping to deliver Sue Ryder’s strategic goal to influence policy on palliative, neurological and bereavement care. You will work with the Head of Influencing to raise our profile and develop strong relationships with parliamentarians, civil servants and policy stakeholders to ensure our voice is not only heard but is listened to. Sue Ryder operates in England and Scotland and as such this role will cover policy and public affairs in both nations so this would suit someone who enjoys diversity within their work.
Key Responsibilities:
About you
You will have demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the Scottish and English political systems and ideally of heath & social care policy. You will have experience of public affairs as well as policy development along with experience of working in partnerships and alliances with other organisations. You will be able to communicate in a compelling manner both verbally and in writing, ideally you will have some line or budget management experience and will also have experience of working collaboratively with high performing PR and social media to best effect.
