Role

The core function of this new role is to design and deliver the materials required to support local guiding counties (branches) meet their governance responsibilities. This will involve working with our Governance Implementation team of volunteers to identify the needs of our volunteers, taking the lead in creating or updating support materials as required and commissioning new materials or updates from other Girlguiding Scotland teams as appropriate.

This role will also be a central point of contact for senior volunteers seeking support with governance issues. The post-holder will become an expert in seeking out and signposting sources of support and be able to use their judgement as to when to refer queries to other Girlguiding Scotland teams.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, able to demonstrate good planning and organisational skills and have an ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and business needs when working under pressure. A willingness and ability to work flexibly and effectively as part of a staff-volunteer partnership – sharing information and communicating well with a wide range of individuals will be essential.

This is a 12 month fixed-term post which will be based at Girlguiding Scotland Headquarters in Edinburgh once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. There is some flexibility in the working pattern, however, the candidate will be required to work 35 hours a week which will include regular evening and weekend work.
