The EIS is Scotland’s largest and most influential trade union and professional association for teachers and lecturers, with approaching 65,000 members working in all education sectors and at all career levels. With such a large and diverse membership, and as an organisation that is strongly active across many areas of Scottish Education, we rely on high quality administrative support.
We are currently seeking a full time Administrative Assistant to join our busy Education & Equality Department.
The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Equality Committee and its sub committees and Networks. They will also provide support to the Professional Learning Co-ordinators, support the Instrumental Music Teachers’ and Head Teachers’ Networks and the Equality Representatives.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate a high standard of communication skills, commitment to team working, close attention to detail, and expertise in using Microsoft Office. Benefits include flexible working patterns, a generous final salary pension scheme and 23 days (rising to 32 days) of annual leave, plus 14 days public holidays. This is a full-time position based in our headquarters in Moray Place, Edinburgh. The Institute has a Flexible Working Patterns policy offering all members of staff a high degree of flexibility over the time and location at which work is carried out, subject to the overall requirements of the EIS and its members. The role will require a small element of out-of-hours working, for example, to provide support for occasional member events at weekends.
As a trade union employer, the EIS is committed to the principles of social justice and equality. We therefore welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of any protected characteristics.
The closing date for applications, which must be submitted on the application form on our website, is Thursday 16th March 2023. CV’s will not be considered.
