The Bridges Programmes supports the social, educational, and economic integration and inclusion of refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and anyone for whom English is a second language living in Glasgow. Their programmes enable their clients to reach their full potential and contribute to Scotland’s economy. They provide a supportive and inclusive environment for learning new skills and build strong social networks for socialising with their peers. The Bridges programmes help its clients to gain the confidence and qualifications they need to participate in all aspects of community life and become active and engaged citizens. They also provide essential information and advice on housing, healthcare, education, and other issues that are relevant to their clients’ lives in Scotland.
This post has become vacant due to the departure of the long-serving founder and CEO, Maggie Lennon, who has been at the helm of The Bridges Programmes since its inception 21 years ago. The post of CEO has been and will continue to be very well supported by the Board of Trustees.
To be a candidate of interest, you must be passionate about refugee and migrant integration, have strong links with the employability landscape in Scotland, be familiar with National Procurement systems, and have senior leadership and management experience.

Clyde Scouts supports around 7,000 young people and over 1800 adult volunteers across the following areas of Scotland: Glasgow; East Renfrewshire; East Dunbartonshire; North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire. Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
By 2025 we will have prepared more young people with skills for life, supported by amazing leaders delivering an inspiring programme.

Clyde Scouts are extremely lucky to own and run two trading operations that support our charity to achieve their mission which include:
- An outdoor centre at Auchengillan, which provides a focus for the provision of adventure based programme and development activities for young people in local Scout Groups and community organisations.
- The Glasgow Scout Shop which supplies Scout uniforms, books and badges and outdoor clothing and equipment that supports the programme undertaken by our youth members.
We also have two campsites Avondyke and Coltswood.
About the role:

Our Chief Operating Officer, Katrina Watson, will be going off on maternity leave at the end of March 2024 and we are looking for someone to step into the role. You will play a pivotal part in leading the effective management of our Charity, ensuring the smooth running of our operations, adherence to governance standards, providing strong leadership during a crucial period of maternity leave and supporting our Groups, District and Region to provide more #SkillsforLife and develop our Adult Volunteering.
This is a fixed term contract for 11months, we are hoping to have someone start at the beginning of March 2024.
Details of the role are as follows:
Hours - Full Time, 37.5 hours per week. You will be required to attend committee meetings and support activities and events, including working during evenings and weekends, for which time off in lieu, will be agreed.
Location - Clyde Scouts Head Office (flexibility for some hybrid working) G2 4PB with travel to our outdoor Centre, campsites and occasional events.
Glasgow ESOL Forum is a charity based in Glasgow that supports asylum seekers, refugees, and New Scots to learn English. We deliver SQA accredited classes as well as less formal community-based learning opportunities. This is an exciting time as we develop a new strategic plan and look forward to the recruitment of a Chief Executive Officer, and a period of consolidation and change.
We are looking for people to join our Board to bring their skills, expertise, and perspectives. We particularly welcome applicants from underrepresented groups and those with lived experience of ESOL services.
We would like to further strengthen our Board in the areas of finance, income generation and fundraising, and marketing and communications. Most importantly, we want applicants who are passionate about what we do and have a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
The commitment now we are looking for is around 3 hours per month, preparing for and attending our Board meetings. We meet annually for a strategy and training day. We are currently reviewing the frequency of our meetings.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join us as Director of Finance and Corporate Services. This is a key role within our organisation as you will be part of our Senior Management Team, working to provide leadership, management and support to the finance and corporate services team in the delivery of effective financial management, treasury management, governance and compliance, human resource, IT and the corporate service function of the Association.
The focus of the role is:
- Provide leadership and management to the Finance and Corporate Services team focusing on providing support, guidance, coaching and development to each and every member of the team
- Develop high quality Financial Management, Governance and Compliance, HR and ICT systems working closely with the team making suggestions for improvements
- Demonstrate a strong knowledge and expertise of strategic financial management and day to day finance activities within a medium sized RSL ensuring compliance with regulations, accounting and legislative requirements.
- Support and advise the Management Committee, the Chief Executive and Senior Management team on strategic and operational aspects of financial management, governance, HR and ICT
- Actively participating in the decision-making process within the Senior Management Team by assessing risk, budget setting and monitoring, policy development and building and maintaining partnerships
- Promote a culture of fairness, empathy and respect to those residing within our homes to support them in having houses which are of a high standard and meet their needs.
Experienced at a managerial level, you should have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across our organisation including with colleagues and our Management Committee. Membership of a relevant membership body (CIH or ACCA, ICAS, etc) and experience within a regulated environment is also sought. You should have experience in leading and developing high performance teams and be able to assist in the development of strategies which relate to the Association.
