Role

The Director of Social Outreach will bring strategic direction, leadership and a hands-on presence and passion to enable Ps & Gs to play its part, within Edinburgh, to see individual lives changed through the power, love and grace of Christ expressed through practical social action. You will take the lead in inspiring the church to offer practical opportunities to help people who might be experiencing homelessness, deprivation and isolation.

Strategic Direction – you will:

  1. Lead the development and implementation of the vision and strategy for social outreach at Ps & Gs, as directed by the Rector and agreed with the Vestry
  2. Explore existing provision across the city to determine social outreach challenges that Ps & Gs could lead on or collaborate with other agencies to address
  3. Develop and implement methods for measuring impact

Leadership – you will:

  1. Together with the clergy, communicate the vision and strategy for social outreach to the congregation
  2. Be the champion of social outreach, inspiring and empowering the church to share with others the love and compassion of Jesus
  3. Ensure all aspects of the strategy are actioned with agreed timeframes and on budget
  4. Ensure that all volunteers involved within social outreach activities at Ps & Gs are equipped to serve and are appropriately supported – including regular safeguarding training
  5. Oversee and lead the Saturday Meal team; motivating and inspiring the Core and volunteer teams, attending regularly, building relationships with guests, developing support and exploring discipleship pathways for them

Finance and Administration – you will:

  1. Ensure efficient administration underpins all social outreach activity, including risk assessments, safeguarding and health & safety
  2. Manage budgets for all areas of social outreach ministries including the exploration of possible external funding streams

Partnership Development – you will:

  1. Develop external relationships with existing and new key partners across the city and nation
  2. Support and liaise with leaders of Ps & Gs existing internal ministries including Refugee Ministry, Caring for Creation, Babies and Toddlers and the Baby Bank
