Role

Fife Carers Centre is a well-regarded and well established organisation who have been supporting thousands of family and unpaid carers throughout Fife since 1995. We work with adult carers on a one to one basis and in groups. We support carers in their caring role with relevant and straightforward information as well as practical help. We give information and the means to use it to carers on a wide range of topics from applying for benefits to learning more about the condition affecting the person you care for. Most importantly we will work with the carer to protect their own physical, emotional, mental and financial health whilst they maintain their caring role.

We now have an opportunity to bring in new members to our team to meet the ever growing need to support unpaid carers in new and diverse ways.

As a Hospital based Carer Support Worker you will be working as part of the Fife Carers Centre Hospital Carer Support Workers team covering hospitals in Fife. This post is based primarily at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline. You’ll be working with hospital staff to identify family and unpaid carers of patients and will then work with those carers to identify concerns and ways in which you can help them in their caring role. The goal being a successful and supported discharge of the person they care for and improving their own confidence and knowledge. The successful candidate will work with an established worker also based in the hospital. The post is part time for 21 hours a week.
