Role

Angus Voice represents the views and experiences of people in Angus who have mental health problems.

Angus Voice is for and led by people who have personal experience of accessing mental health services. The aim is to build the capacity and involvement of people who use mental health services. It enables us to contribute to improving the services that affect us. The project does this by building partnerships and challenging stigma and discrimination.

Purpose of the post:

The Project Worker will provide flexible support across the range of our activities. Among other things, this may include administrative support, social media support, promoting the work of Angus Voice, answering queries from people interested in becoming involved in the work of Angus Voice, and potential volunteers. There is scope for the role to be adapted balancing the organisation’s requirements, with the workers strengths and interests.

Hours worked will be by negotiation and we anticipate some applicants may be interested in working set full days each week, while others prefer a few hours a day, or some other work pattern.

Key Duties:

  • Be a first point of contact and volunteering enquiries, depending on working hours;
  • Assist with the co-ordination and running of participation groups and volunteering training;
  • Attend associated meetings identified by The Board of Trustees.
  • Managing bookings for meetings, events and training sessions, including booking venues and catering as and when needed;
  • Actively post relevant and engaging content on our social media channels;
  • Assist with designing methods and recording information etc for monitoring and evaluation;
  • Assist in the production of information and reports for the Board of Trustees and funders;
  • To attend staff meetings, participate in supervision and submit monthly activity reports;
  • Carry out any other duties as necessary, and where directed by the Board of Trustees such as recruiting members

Skills Required:

  • A positive attitude towards mental health and wellbeing.
  • I.T. skills including Microsoft Office and social media platforms, or a willingness to learn.
  • Enthusiasm for working with a charity which values lived experience.
  • Reliable, enthusiastic and approachable
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work as part of a small team and a flexible approach
  • Experience in supporting vulnerable people/groups to have their views heard
  • Knowledge/experience of ‘what works’ regarding service user involvement
  • Ability to build partnerships with other professionals and networking
  • Skills in service development, monitoring, evaluation and report writing
  • Good understanding of the importance of confidentiality and maintaining boundaries
  • Experience of challenging stigma and discrimination
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
