- £9.90 per hours. Review after 6 months. 22.5 hours per week. Alternating Tues, Wed, Thursday & Friday, Saturday with some flexibility in hours & days to meet the demands of the Café. (This post may become full time for the right candidate).

Role
Café supervisor will: Assist in managing a flourishing, friendly, community café, supported by paid and volunteer staff, running shifts in the café will be required. Oversee daily Cafe operations. Ensure an exemplary customer experience. A big part of the role will involve training the staff and volunteers to the standard required for a quality café.
Main responsibilities
- Run shifts in the cafe and ensure enough volunteers on shift. (This may involve contacting volunteers, checking sign-up)
- Assist the manager in training all staff and volunteers.
- Ensure Café service is customer centred ensuring a unique, enjoyable, efficient and value for money experience.
- Ensure all those working in the café are valued, supported and have the opportunity to develop their contribution if appropriate.
- Ensure Food handling health and Safety policy is strictly adhered to by all team members in the Cafe, regularly update staff and volunteers on new processes as required and in line with policy and directives.
- Oversee adherence to dates management, labelling and display of correct allergen information for customers.
- Assume cash responsibilities including cashing up for the café, monitoring of change and recording sales figures, while duty supervisor.
- Monitor and order all food and drinks stock levels weekly, plan ahead and order to ensure adequate levels to fulfil business demand, in conjunction with the manager. This will include bread, milk, coffee.
- Preparing fresh lunch options such as salads, wraps.
- Taking orders from customers, cleaning tables if needed
- Clean and prepare the café inside and outside at the beginning and end of the day.
Other duties
- Ensure all the health and Safety and food hygiene rules and records are scrupulously followed and recorded in the café and meet the regulated standards.
- As a key holder, adhere to opening and closing procedures, ensuring health and safety protocols are followed.
- Ensure the ethos and values of Gavin’s Mill are at the centre of all operational decisions.
- Be involved in any events at the cafe as required
- Deputise for the manager for holidays and as needed.
Person Specifications
Essential
- Management or supervision of volunteer staff, as well as paid staff
- Experience in catering and/or food preparation in a commercial kitchen
- Excellent communication skills, the ability to work with, nurture and motivate a team.
- Driven to achieve high standards of customer service, self-motivated and able to manage teams under pressure and in a demanding environment.

- Experience of stock ordering and supplier management.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and organised Café Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of the Haven Café. Key Responsibilities

- Proven experience in a café or hospitality management role
