Around since 1923, SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity. We have represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for almost 100 years. Today, in over 60 communities we work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others.

About the Role
SAMH Gateways is a community recovery based service that provides personalised support to adults with mental health issues and/or alcohol or drug issues.
The service provided promotes the principles of social inclusion, supporting people to be active participants in their community by accessing existing community resources and to engage in meaningful activity. The service actively promotes activities that support physical, mental health and wellbeing and seeks to improve confidence, build resilience, self-management skills and abilities.
We are committed to providing a holistic approach that considers physical, psychological, social, emotional needs and this requires staff to spend time gaining an understanding of the person’s life experiences, mental and physical health. The core outcomes of the service are driven by the needs and goals of people which are identified through person centred planning and outcome based support plans which are recovery focused.
The service is delivered Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm however there may be occasions a flexible response to need is required, this will be planned in advance.
What we are looking for
We expect you to provide high quality recovery orientated support, using person centred approach, structured interventions delivered either individually or group work basis, in addition the ability to work with a level of autonomy.
We expect you to establish strong relationships with people and the community, promote awareness and engagement of the service, build resilience to enable behaviour, culture and community change around stigma and discrimination.
The service will work collaboratively across different sectors and establish partnership working to promote sustainable outcomes for people.
To be successful in this post you will meet the essential criteria, core competencies behaviour and skills listed in the role profile and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering outcomes for vulnerable adults; and knowledge and experience of working in the field of mental health and wellbeing.
