Around since 1923, SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity. We have represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for almost 100 years. Today, in over 60 communities we work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others.
These services together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention and active living; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change. SAMH is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all: with a vision of a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances.
About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced manager to manage our Care Inspectorate registered North Lanarkshire Support Service and manage and oversee our Expeerience Counts service. Both services are based within North Lanarkshire.
North Lanarkshire Support Service (NLSS) is a Care Inspectorate registered service for people with severe and enduring mental health problems. This service has been running since 2018 in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council, North Lanarkshire Health & Social Care Partnership and NHS Lanarkshire.
Working in close collaboration with other statutory partners, the North Lanarkshire Support Service model is well established, fast paced and recovery focussed based on three pathways of support depending on need: 6 week in-reach and discharge support in hospital; 2-week post discharge/responsive outreach support to prevent (re)admission; up to 12weeks community inclusion/re-ablement support. Using a person centred and creative approach and offering the right support at the right time, it is envisaged that service users can move on to experience a better quality of life and independence.
Operating since 2013, our Expeerience Counts Service is a non-registered Peer Support service supporting individuals over a 12week period harnessing the lived experience of Peer Workers to deliver a recovery-focussed, sustainable community-based service to support people’s mental health and wellbeing using structured self-management tools. Offering both 1:1 sessions and group work, Peer Workers use both MyRAP and Living Life to the Full as structured interventions. In addition, locality-based Community Link Workers connect individuals with community resources to increase access to specialist support and promote self-management and social inclusion.
Also part of Expeerience Counts is our Well Informed North Lanarkshire information service. This promotes mental health/wellbeing resources via ‘shop front’ accessible walk in facility, information stalls, community engagement and signposting via phone calls and online/social media.
