Role

Are you searching for a position with purpose? A role to make a real difference? Where your time can be transformational?

Join an award-winning charity and passionate team dedicated to ensuring the country’s most vulnerable young people are defined by their talent and never their circumstances. Our in-school mentoring has profound impacts on mentees in their confidence, wellbeing, achievement and post-school progression. MCR Mentors make and experience a life changing difference.

At MCR, our driving force is simple – that young people who are in, or on the edges of the care system, will have the same educational outcomes, career opportunities and life chances as any other young person.

In 2021 MCR were winners of a prestigious UK Centre for Social Justice Award CSJ award. The CSJ produced this film about MCR young person Emily and her mentor Elaine.

MCR Pathways supports over 3,000 young people from across the country. These are really exciting times and we are looking for an additional (and exceptional) Programme Manager to help lead our programme and manage our school-based Coordinators across a group of schools in Aberdeenshire and Shetland. You will need to have a driving licence and access to a car as there will be frequent travel to Aberdeenshire schools. There will also be occasional travel to Shetland.

The role is an interesting and varied one. As part of our Education & Schools team, you will jointly lead the regional team of school Pathways Coordinators and be supported by our Mentor Services, Marketing and Digital teams.

You’ll need to be relentlessly driven to ensure that all care-experienced young people and those experiencing disadvantage in the region are supported to find, grow and use their individual talents and that their education, employment choices and life chances outcomes are maximised. You’ll have experience of managing a team, be highly organised and ambitious to ensure all the young people involved have the opportunity to access the Young Talent programme.
