Role
As the I Bike Officer for Falkirk, you will offer support to selected schools and community groups across the area to enable pupils and their families to walk, cycle, scoot and wheel to school more regularly.
This is a fixed term contract with funding until June 2023 with possibility for extension after that date. Due to the nature of the role, a PVG is required.
You will engage with schools and communities across Falkirk; developing and delivering activities and events in schools which promote and enable all forms of active travel to school, through practical skills incentive programmes and classroom sessions.
You will work closely with Falkirk Council and other local partners, to support the delivery of on-road cycle training (Cycling Scotland, Bikeability levels 1 and 2) and aiding Bikeability Scotland Instructor training, allowing schools to cascade on-road cycle training (Bikeability Level 2) to pupils.
I Bike Falkirk has been running since 2015 and supports the work of a number of local teams including Falkirk Councils Transport Planning Team. If successful, you will be part of a local working group of all interested partners. This working group aims to ensure that I Bike complements and strengthens existing initiatives within Falkirk.
About you
You should have experience of working with children of Primary or early secondary school age (9-14), and should have experience in leading group workshops and event planning.
You should be able to adapt your communication style with ease to ensure engagement with both partners and pupils.
Ideally you will have experience of delivering physical activity lessons and have an understanding of community based or environmental projects.

About Us
Recyke-a-bike (part of Fallin Community Enterprises) has been in operation since 2005. We began as a small recycling social enterprise that quickly grew into a job club, using bike recycling as work experience for our members. Over the years we’ve seen a lot of growth and now offer training services and cycling outreach work, in addition to our bike recycling and sales through our well stocked and modestly priced shop.
Purpose
To support the delivery of the Bikeability programme in partnership with Cycling Scotland and Stirling and Clackmannanshire local authorities. The Outreach Worker and Cycle Trainer will also support the delivery of all cycling-based activities delivered by Recyke-a-bike.
Responsibilities
Main:
- Delivery of Bikeability Training to Children.
- Delivery of Adult Cycle Training.
- Maintenance of bikes and equipment for each of the following fleets: Stirling, Clackmannanshire, EBike, Practical Cycle Awareness Training (PCAT) and Adult Cycle Training Fleets.
- Managing health and safety within area of responsibility.
- Carrying out risk assessments for Bikeability sessions.
- Planning, risk assessing and delivering other cycle related sessions, events and activities.
- External liason with third parties including schools, local councils, community groups and organisations, as well as charities and businesses.
- Attending team meetings.
- Attending continuous professional development (CPD) training.
Additional:
- Building bikes for the shop when not busy.
- Collecting bike donations for the shop.
- Deliver Doctor Bike services across the Forth Valley when required.

About the role

The Investigations Support Officer (ISO) provides integral administrative support to the Standards team. The Standards team consists of Investigating Officers (IOs) who report to the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) and/or Hearings and Investigations Officer (HIO).
The Commissioner receives complaints about possible breaches of the Code of Conduct for Councillors, the Code of Conduct for MSPs and of Codes of Conduct based on the Model Code for members of public bodies. The Commissioner also deals with complaints covering regulated lobbying.
The IOs are responsible for investigating complaints to a conclusion including carriage of the related administrative duties and all contact with the complainer, respondent, local authority staff, and others involved in a given case. The ISO provides administrative support to the IOs in accomplishing these tasks.
The successful applicant will be experienced and effective case administrators, with relevant professional or regulatory backgrounds, and strong analytical skills. They will also share our values. We act ethically and with empathy; we value people.
It is desirable that the successful candidates will have a track record of working in or with the public sector, particularly with local authorities and/or other public bodies subject to ethical standards regulation.
