Role

We are currently recruiting for a full-time (36 hours per week) position in our Communities Team, based in Glasgow, on a fixed term contract. Specifically, this position will undertake:

  1. The role of a Regional Integration Coordinator (RIC) for our South West region of Scotland which covers the following Local Authority areas: East Ayrshire, East Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, North Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, South Ayrshire, and Dumfries & Galloway.
  2. Co-ordinate the operation of the Regional Integration Coordinator (RIC) Team by directing, collaborating with, motivating and developing the capabilities of the RICs thus supporting the team to provide a quality service which enhances social integration for relocated refugees and asylum seekers across Scotland.

The role will help deliver relevant elements of our Strategic Priority of Collaboration. Work elements to deliver this Strategic Priority will be a mixture of funded project work and internal initiatives which augment or evolve our NewScots Connect physical and logical network of support to refugee-led and refugee-assisting organisations across Scotland involved in delivering services to refugees and asylum seekers. Our approach seeks to support these refugee-led and refugee-assisting groups to become sustainable groups capable of providing support and services to refugees and their communities.

We are looking for a person with a sound understanding of the principles and practices of community development; preferably with experience of working with refugees and with the ability to coordinate, motivate and develop a team.

In addition to having a friendly, dynamic and gregarious nature, you will need excellent communication skills both face to face and electronic as well as flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving needs. Good team working skills are essential as you will be operating remotely from your team, your manager and the other members of the Communities Team.

Although the organisation is based in Glasgow, where you live is not necessarily important, although living in our South West region would have its advantages. The expectation is that you will be required to attend meetings and events across your region.

The contracted hours of work are to be worked over seven days and may involve evening and weekend work. You will, however, be expected to work such hours as are required for the efficient and conscientious discharge of your duties and responsibilities, for which a system of flexitime applies to this role.
