Scottish Women’s Aid has an exciting opportunity to join their busy and thriving team. Based in Edinburgh, the Communications Assistant will be responsible for promoting the vision and work of SWA and its members, and supporting the delivery of our campaigning priorities.
Background
Scottish Women’s Aid is Scotland’s leading voluntary sector organisation working to prevent domestic abuse and promoting effective policy and practice responses for women, children and young people who experience domestic abuse. We are the umbrella organisation for 34 autonomous Women’s Aid groups delivering direct services to women, children and young people across Scotland.
What You’ll Do
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with our External Affairs Officer, you will create engaging and appropriate content to support the management of SWA’s social media presence. You’ll also assist with creating and updating content on our website, overseeing the online presence of the organisation. Reporting on the impact of our communications activities will be crucial, as is supporting your colleagues to publicise the key issues for women, children and young people who experience domestic abuse and the work SWA does to address these issues.
What We Need
We’re looking for someone with experience of website management, creating graphics for social media and previous knowledge of scheduling content using tools such as Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, Buffer or Facebook/Twitter’s in-built scheduling systems. Excellent written and verbal communications skills goes without saying: you’ll be skilled in the ability to write to suit a range of different audiences, as well as the experience to support your colleagues with writing and producing communications materials.
