Wellspring opened almost 45 years ago, in 1978. Several generations of psychotherapists and counsellors have come, stayed, and later, moved on, leaving their lasting imprint, and contributing to the growth of the present community of therapists, volunteers and trainees.

Wellspring is recognised as a centre of excellence, offering, at reduced cost, high quality therapy.

The weekly meetings, brings everyone together to address organisational and clinical matters; a form that includes a diversity of views, differences and which offers dynamic discussion, depth of inquiry and on-going support in managing oneself in the clinical work.

Wellspring is looking for qualified and experienced registered self- employed counsellors/psychotherapists, art therapist, preferably with a minimum of 2 years’ experience, to join our team.

Applicants should either be accredited or eligible to apply for accreditation with a Professional body such as COSCA, BACP or UKCP.

We are looking for therapists who are experienced in working both short and long term and who can work a minimum of 8 hours/week.

Every Wednesday from 12.15pm to 1.30pm there is a therapists’ meeting which provides a forum for clinical discussion and for dealing with organisational issues. This is mandatory and unpaid.

Clients self-refer and present with a wide range of issues. Therapists carry out their own assessment of clients and are responsible for their own notes and record keeping.

Wellspring is a centre for psychotherapy and counselling, providing long and short-term therapy to individuals, couples and families and is an organisational member of COSCA and BACP. Wellspring also provides clinical and supervisory services to other organisations.

The team of over twenty part-time therapists holds a common purpose, which is to provide a high standard of professional practice that respects the individual as a unique and whole person. The therapists encompass a wide range of professional expertise and strive to foster an environment in which the variety of approaches are respected and valued.
