SAMH is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all: with a vision of a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances.

About the Role of Support Worker
This work is about helping people to live well and achieve the things in life that really matter to them.
We have a role available in our New Routes service.
Working across Scotland, New Routes is delivered as a Public Social Partnership (PSP), funded by the Scottish Government and led by the Wise Group. SAMH works in partnership with the Wise Group to support male offenders with their mental health while they reintegrate back into the community.
As a support worker, you will provide support to individuals referred through the Wise Group, working alongside the SAMH Assertive Outreach worker who will carry out assessments and the risk assessment on all referrals.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of mental health issues and the support mechanisms available to people who are returning to their communities after coming out of custodial custody in line with Scottish Government’s approach to reduce re-offending.

You don’t need any specific qualifications at first, but what you do need is the right attitude and values. We will ask you to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) membership scheme, and register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). We’re looking for people with great people skills who are honest, reliable and resilient in challenging situations.
The role would suit a confident and resourceful individual who is able to operate autonomously, be comfortable communicating and contributing to multi-disciplinary discussions. A full clean driving licence and access to your own transport is desirable.
What we will provide for you
You will work in a supportive environment and will be provided with a full induction and training opportunities. You will be given the chance to develop your knowledge and skills, as well as develop professionally. Some of our benefits include;
