Role

Equate Scotland is a national expert organisation on women’s under-representation in science, engineering, technology and the built environment. We are hosted by Edinburgh Napier University and based at Edinburgh Napier University Craiglockhart campus.

We work with industry, academia, the Scottish Government and public bodies to make tangible and sustainable change, enabling more women to study and work in these key sectors.

Equate Scotland is funded by the Scottish Government until September 2024, with funding renewal reconfirmed annually on 1 October. Depending on start date the fixed term employment contract may fall into two funding periods. This will be discussed in detail at the interview stage of the process.

The Role:

We are looking for a new Director to lead the organisation’s delivery focusing on external relations, partnership building and income generation. You will be responsible for supporting and developing the team to assist them to meet strategic and funding objectives.

You will be supported and advised by the organisation’s Steering Committee, which includes representatives from across STEM, business, policy making and women’s labour market equality.

Who are we looking for:

This role is ideal for an experienced leader or manager either in the third, public or private sector, who has a detailed understanding of and commitment to gender equality.

  • Applicants must demonstrate:
  • Proven ability to establish and manage positive relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Significant experience of budget management, leading organisational strategies and writing successful funding bid and developing effective income generation strategies.
  • Experience of policy influencing and a good understanding of Government and Parliament working.
  • Experience of leading, managing and motivating staff, building on values and behaviours to develop a culture that enables people to reach their potential

The ideal candidate would also have experience of being a spokesperson and working with media.
