Role

Are you passionate about the Arts, and understand the benefits they can have for young people’s wellbeing?

Do you want to do a job where you can make a real difference to other people’s lives?

Are you looking for a role where every day is different and to work in a team with other creative people?

If so, this new role working with young people may be the perfect opportunity for you.

About the post

The Senior Keyworker will lead the delivery and implementation of arts-based activities at Creative Natives designed to support wellbeing as well managing a small team of keyworkers. Central to the role will be a passion for art and a belief in the importance of creativity to promote wellbeing in young people.

We support young people to explore their next steps in life through the medium of creativity in all its forms including art, music, fashion, animation, photography, graphic design and web design.

It's an exciting time to join Creative Natives as the service is expanding to provide support to young people experiencing eating disorders through a programme of arts/creativity-based activity and where possible also to their siblings and families to improve wellbeing through art.

About you

You will be an outgoing individual with a creative and innovative approach. Experience of working with young people and a background in, or understanding of, mental health issues in young people is essential.

Ideally you will have some knowledge of, or experience of working with, young people with eating disorders.

You should be passionate about helping young people reach their potential and experienced in building positive relationships.

You’ll have an interest in art and creativity, and keen to use your excellent relationship-building and organisational skills to make ‘small differences’ to improve the wellbeing of others.

You will have experience of managing a team and be an approachable and responsible individual.

How we’ll support you

You’ll be working independently, managing a team of keyworkers with a supportive service manager. You will have access to wider Cyrenians support, including our learning and development programme, and staff wellbeing services.

About the service

Creative Natives is an art-based project that uses creativity to promote positive mental health and wellbeing with young people aged 12-24 in a safe creative studio. This includes those who have disengaged from school and need additional support, and those who have left school with no positive destination. Many of the attendees have experienced poor mental health due to a number of factors including neurodiversity, gender identity, social anxiety and exclusion, often aggravated by social isolation caused by the pandemic.

About us

At Cyrenians we tackle the causes and consequences of homelessness. We understand that there are many routes into homelessness, and that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to supporting people towards more positive and stable futures. That’s why all our work is values-led and relationships-based.

Our values

• Compassion: We believe that everyone should have the chance to change, no matter how long that might take.

• Respect: We believe in tolerance, acceptance, valuing diversity and treating each other as equals.

• Integrity: We are committed to the highest quality of work, grounded in honesty, generosity, sincerity and professionalism.

• Innovation: We are willing to take risks, challenge convention and be creative in our search for new ways of working, in particular by taking account of the environmental impact of our decisions.
