Around since 1923, SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity.

SAMH has represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for more than 90 years.

Today, in over 60 communities we work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others. These services together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention and active living; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change.

SAMH is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all: with a vision of a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances.

Glasgow Personalisation covers all of Glasgow and its main office is based at 19 Waterloo Street, Glasgow; providing practical and emotional support to adults with mental health problems. People using our service have access to staff daily, offering support with daily living and social inclusion.

The successful candidates should be able to establish therapeutic relationships with service users who have mental health issues and offer them emotional and practical support to gain independent living skills.

  • To assist individuals to manage their mental health with a focus on developing sustainable strategies and building personal resilience.
  • To equip individuals to care for themselves and the practicalities of running their own home.
  • To support with personal care as part of agreed care plan.
  • To assist individuals develop self-confidence, self-esteem, and learn new skills.
  • To assist individuals achieve new personal goals, rediscover interests and try new things.
  • Facilitate support to widen individuals own support networks to establish new meaningful relationships.
  • Applying SAMHs Principles for Practice approaches

Also, should have the ability to demonstrate a mature and caring attitude, with excellent listening and communication skills. Experience of working in the field of mental health or social care is desirable. You must be able to demonstrate a high degree of skill in report writing, assessing client need and developing professional support plans.

You will help to encourage and support individuals to engage/re-engage with other agencies such as health, education and employment agencies.

Previous experience of working in a Support Worker role is desirable as is the possession of an SVQ level 2 in health/Social care or equivalent or the willingness to undertake this.

The project operates, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Staff are also required as part of work force flexibility to provide support to other services within the Greater Glasgow area as and when required. There is a staff team of support workers and one team leader and one on-site service manager.
