Forth Environment Link (FEL) is a Scottish environmental charity leading the way on connecting people and place. FEL supports more day to day journeys on foot or by bike; encourages more local food to be grown and eaten in our communities; and helps increase the lifespan of our everyday items.

The Opportunity
Forth Environment Link is looking for new Trustees to join the organisation and help shape our future direction as we emerge from the last 12 months of working within a global pandemic.
We are looking for applicants who are passionate about the environment and climate action, possess good independent judgement, will appreciate the collective responsibilities of the Trustee Board and who think strategically. Our Trustees are appointed for a three-year term and can be re-appointed for two further terms of up to three years each.
We wish to increase the diversity, knowledge, age and experience on our Board so hope to attract applications from a wide range of talented individuals. We would particularly welcome applications from groups currently underrepresented on our Board including people from BAME backgrounds, younger people and people who have engaged with our organisation and/or services.
Applications from people with a commitment to community climate action would be welcomed. We are keen to attract people with experience or knowledge in the following areas but these are desirable, not exclusive:
- Equality, diversity and inclusion
- Fundraising
- Digital Leadership
- Youth Engagement
- Lived experience of food or transport poverty
The Board is currently made up of 8 members and meets every 2 months. This is an unpaid position, but reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
General Trustee Duties:
To enable the organisation to meet its aims, trustees will contribute towards:
- Setting and maintaining the vision, mission and values
- Developing the strategic direction
- Ensuring the organisation has the structure and resources it needs for delivery.
- Establishing policies and procedures to govern organisational activity, including guidance for the board, volunteers and staff.
- Establishing appropriate systems for reporting and monitoring.
- Managing risk and ensure compliance and accountability with the governing document, external regulators and the law.
- Ensuring the financial affairs of the organisation are well managed and reported on accurately.
Other duties
In addition to the statutory duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This involves:
- Scrutinising board papers
- Leading discussions
- Focusing on strategic priorities
- Providing guidance on new initiatives

Vice Convener – Ramblers Scotland Strategic Committee
About the Role
As Vice Convener of the Ramblers Scotland Strategic Committee (RSSC), you’ll play a key role in supporting the Convener and contributing to the strategic direction of our work. The committee oversees our activities in Scotland, helping to ensure that walking is accessible, enjoyable, and open to all.
This is a strategic and advisory role — there is no operational decision-making responsibility. You’ll collaborate closely with fellow volunteers and staff to help shape our campaigns, policies, and priorities, aligning your leadership with the organisation’s refreshed strategy — which emphasises removing barriers to walking, improving access for under-represented communities, and safeguarding natural spaces.
This volunteer role also provides an excellent career development opportunity — offering experience in governance, strategic planning, and leadership within a national charity.
This is a national volunteer role that involves quarterly in-person meetings, with occasional ad hoc sub-committee meetings (often online). While the role is unpaid, reasonable expenses (e.g. travel and subsistence) will be reimbursed.
Convener – Ramblers Scotland Strategic Committee

You will collaborate closely with fellow volunteers and staff to help shape our campaigns, policies, and priorities, aligning your leadership with the organisation’s refreshed strategy — which emphasises removing barriers to walking, improving access for under-represented communities, and safeguarding natural spaces.
Serving as Convener also offers a valuable career development opportunity, providing experience in charity governance, strategic planning, and leadership at a national level.
This national volunteer role involves quarterly in-person committee meetings and occasional ad hoc or informal sub-committee meetings (often held online). You will also represent Ramblers Scotland as a full member of the Ramblers GB Board of Trustees.
While the role is unpaid, reasonable travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed.

We’re seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join the Ramblers Scotland Strategic Committee (RSSC) as Ordinary Members. Whether you have experience of effective committee work or are keen to develop new skills, this is a great opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the future of walking in Scotland.
The RSSC plays a key role in overseeing our work, helping to shape strategic direction, guide campaigns, and ensure that walking remains open, accessible, and enjoyable for all.
As an Ordinary Member, you will:

Circular Economy Policy Officer

Circular Communities Scotland is a network membership organisation, dedicated to supporting the establishment of a thriving circular economy in Scotland. We support and represent repair, reuse and recycling charities and social enterprises across the country. Our members prevent valuable products and materials from entering landfill, create local jobs, economic opportunities, and help promote and create social and environmental justice in their communities.
This is a new role for the organisation and the Circular Economy Policy Officer will be responsible for:
- Developing and overseeing Circular Communities Scotland’s core circular economy policy positions.
- Promoting our reuse manifesto in the run up to the Scottish Elections in May 2026 including running a hustings style event.
- Running a post-election campaign targeting Members of Scottish Parliament (MSPs), our membership and wider stakeholder organisations.
- Working with Scottish Government to see key policy asks enacted.
- Working with our membership to involve them in our policy work.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a strong candidate who has a minimum of two years’ experience in a policy formation or campaigning role at a national level. The candidate will be able to quickly get up to speed with our circular economy policy positions and indeed develop these positions further. An ability to network and build relationships with civil servants and elected representatives is also important.
We require a dynamic and proactive individual who will be capable of planning, launching and sustaining a policy campaign to support our Reuse Manifesto. We are expecting candidates to have strong communication and interpersonal skills along with a proven track record in managing multiple delivery workstreams.
