Purpose of role

To work with local people to explore and develop understanding of issues arising from the Climate Crisis.

To support communities to organise, take action and engage on the needs and issues that matter to them.

Help local people to come together to form:

• Action / issue-based groups to identify and challenge the economic, gender and race inequalities that exist within communities.

• Groups of mutual support aimed at building confidence and self-esteem and developing a positive sense of purpose.

This role will involve working across the community with young people, families and the wider community.

Fallin Community Enterprises is a Scottish charity & business limited by guarantee operating as a Social Enterprise. Recyke-a-bike is a project of Fallin Community Enterprises where the main business is recycling bicycles and delivering cycle related training and activities that will not just reduce the impact of waste on the environment, but will also generate jobs, provide training and opportunities within the Forth Valley. This is an exciting time to join the charity, who are in a period of growth and development.

The purpose of this role is to coordinate the delivery of the established volunteer program at Recyke-a-bike. Volunteers will be supported through development of skills, including bike building and linking up with other departments at Recyke-a-bike, to become trained in other areas (e.g. cycle trainer who can deliver cycle lessons).

We are looking for a staff member who is person-centred, skilled in mechanics and is passionate about teaching other people these skills. The position focuses on the engagement of volunteering through teaching mechanics and other skills, with a focus on scrapping, repairing and building bikes, organising stock and supporting volunteers through other areas of their development.

Our volunteers are wonderfully varied, including children 14 years and older, university students, retired people, people with disabilities, people who struggle with their mental health, refugees and more. Stirling Council Advice Services is an accredited provider of welfare benefits, money and debt advice under the Scottish National Standards for Advice and Information Providers. The service is also one of the key providers of digital inclusion advice and support in the Stirling area. Stirling Council Digital Inclusion project offers free and tailored help to complete beginners or those looking to improve their digital skills. The team aim to improve the confidence of Stirling Citizens using a wide variety of services online. We are currently recruiting for 2 full-time Digital Inclusion Workers to work within our Digital Inclusion Project as part of the Thrive to Maximise and Multiply Stirling Projects.

• Thrive to Maximise is a programme specifically targeted at parents across the Stirling Council area. The programme sets out to reduce in-work poverty as well as family and child poverty and aims to help families gain an improved financial situation.
• Multiply Stirling is a new community based numeracy programme funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund aiming to build the numeracy capacity of people across targeted areas and within targeted groups across Stirling.

The successful applicants will work in partnership with the wider Advice Services Team; as well as the Learning and Employability Team.

Both posts are currently funded until 31st March 2025 and will report to the Senior Digital Inclusion Worker.

attracted to kick-start our Tayvallich Initiative?

We are seeking a part-time, freelance Project Development Manager who will work with our Board, Community Steering Group and Housing Working Group Lead to establish and drive forward the development of housing for affordable rent on our community-owned land.

Your role will be to help us select the most suitable housing agency to deliver our vision for housing and work in partnership with them to make this a reality. You will also liaise with planners about options for housing on community-owned land and prepare pre-planning and planning applications. At each phase, you will also take a lead in involving and consulting our local community on our proposed plans to ensure continued engagement and commitment.

• Freelance opportunity, fixed term, up to October 2025
• Hours: on average 2 days a week (with flexibility to meet the varying demands of this role). Some out-of-hours working will be required
• Remuneration: £275 per day (inclusive of VAT if applicable) with a set allowance for travel and expenses £545,950 total fee
• Reporting to: Chair of Tayvallich Initiative Board
• Location: This role is home-based. You will need to be able to commit to attend regular face-to-face meetings in our community of Tayvallich, Mid Argyll on a scheduled basis
