In their 10 year Strategy for Social Enterprise, the Scottish Government announced its ambition to see a social enterprise in every school in Scotland. We have been tasked with leading on the delivery of this goal.
“If you could create a business to solve any social issue in your community, country or the world, what would it be?” This is what we ask young people across Scotland every year. The result? Innovative social enterprises that are completely pupil-led and solving the issues that matter most to them.
From making sustainable crafts to funding community defibrillators to tackling local unemployment through computer coding classes, these young people are stepping up, taking action and demanding change.
Since the Social Enterprise in Education programme began we’ve had over 1,600 school engagements across Scotland and in that time we have seen young people change how they see themselves and grow hugely in confidence while building essential skills for the future. We work with nurseries, primary and secondary schools and schools for young people with additional support needs.
Your role will be to support this activity from our Edinburgh head office, supporting facilitators and social entrepreneurs to work with the schools to make this vision a reality. As part of a highly motivated team, this opportunity offers variety, satisfaction and a great opportunity to be part of something that is making a difference to Scotland.

About the role
As the Registered Manager, you will be an experienced leader leading a team working with individuals who have a wide range of support needs, providing them with practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives e.g. keeping safe, meaningful activities, community involvement, physical health, relationships, emotional health and wellbeing.
As the Registered Manager you will:
- Maintain the continuing relevance of services to individuals’ needs and purchaser requirements by ongoing planning, monitoring and evaluation.
- Oversee the financial aspects of the service, managing significant budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and making financial decisions.
- Where a need or an opportunity is identified, lead on the development of new services, support business growth and maintain reputational excellence.
- Comply with governance, law and legislation including local authority compliance, Care Inspectorate (at level 5 and above), SSSC and safeguarding procedures.
- Support the senior management team in the streamlining, promotion and monitoring of quality assurance systems which meets the needs of individual services as well as the overall service delivery in the region.
- Develop, monitor and implement supervision and appraisal systems for staff.
About You
You will have passion and drive to take forward a well-established Service and Team. Be passionate; and committed to the overall aims and objectives of the service and have the belief that people can live fulfilling lives with the right support in place.
You should also have:
- Experience of working with vulnerable people and leading a service delivery team, including managing the provision of a safe operating environment in a relevant context.
- The ability to negotiate with a wide range of internal and external partners and build positive relationships including local authorities and housing associations.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise your own time and workload to meet a number of different and competing tasks in sometimes pressurised environment.
- Social Service and Health Care at level 9 (SCQF) or other speciality/qualification recognised by the SSSC for registration purposes as well as a relevant management qualification.

The Investigations Support Officer (ISO) provides integral administrative support to the Standards team. The Standards team consists of Investigating Officers (IOs) who report to the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) and/or Hearings and Investigations Officer (HIO).
The Commissioner receives complaints about possible breaches of the Code of Conduct for Councillors, the Code of Conduct for MSPs and of Codes of Conduct based on the Model Code for members of public bodies. The Commissioner also deals with complaints covering regulated lobbying.
The IOs are responsible for investigating complaints to a conclusion including carriage of the related administrative duties and all contact with the complainer, respondent, local authority staff, and others involved in a given case. The ISO provides administrative support to the IOs in accomplishing these tasks.
The successful applicant will be experienced and effective case administrators, with relevant professional or regulatory backgrounds, and strong analytical skills. They will also share our values. We act ethically and with empathy; we value people.
It is desirable that the successful candidates will have a track record of working in or with the public sector, particularly with local authorities and/or other public bodies subject to ethical standards regulation.

The post is full time, pensionable and based at our offices in Edinburgh, which is currently operating flexibly to accommodate remote, hybrid or office-based working. The flexible working options are set out in our Remote Working Policy.
Please note that the ISO role requires at least 1 day of in office work per week in addition to some travel in connection with investigations-related work, attending external training or networking events, or public hearings.
Starting salary: £31,514 per annum rising to £34,066 per annum after 1 year in post (please note: the starting salary is non-negotiable)
Working hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (35 hours effective from 01 March 2026)
Leave allowance: 25 days increasing to 30 days with 11.5 public holidays
