Main Job Activities

1. To be a subject expert:

Understanding the rules, laws and regulations within the relevant subject area.

Review and highlight key information to colleagues from relevant literature, journals, and reports.

Identify areas of improvement for the organisation’s advice service, working with colleagues to implement strategic development plans.

Support relevant marketing and media activities.

2. To influence the operational processes associated with the relevant subject area:

Identifying and implementing key improvements across both advisor and customer journeys.

Strong depth of understanding related to enquiry patterns and trends.

Planning and horizon scanning to provide the most up-to-date information for our advisors.

3. Identify and develop collaborative partnerships with stakeholders within the subject area:

Partnership working with organisations we are currently engaged with, in addition to establishing possible new partnership opportunities with those we are not.

Monitoring, understanding, and responding to external consultations and changes within the relevant subject area.

4. Prepare and brief both senior colleagues and external stakeholders as required:

Regular development of reports and written briefings.

Inform and collaborate with our internal training department to influence training content.

Support advisory staff when required, providing subject specific guidance.

5. To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by Line Manager.

About Aberlour Options Fife - Respite and Outreach

Options Fife Respite and Outreach provides a range of flexible support through outreach and overnight short breaks at weekends, evenings and school holidays to children and young people with complex learning disabilities and autism. We offer a high-quality child centred service providing positive and enabling experiences for the young people, supporting them through the challenges and complexities that enable them to work towards their individual outcomes and personal goals. We work closely with families and other professionals in providing support tailored around the child’s plan.

What we are looking for....

We are looking to recruit two Young People’s Worker Nights, working four nights on (10 hours per night) every second week. You will play a fundamental role in ensuring that the young people you work with have the best possible experience in working towards their objectives in line with their care plan, supporting children to progress within their individual outcomes. Whilst not without its challenges and demands, this is a highly rewarding role, where the work we do has a demonstrable impact on each young person's progress. Using a person-centred approach, you will provide enabling support ensuring the highest level of physical, personal, and emotional care. We support young people who have epilepsy, need personal care and need gastrostomy feeding. Aberlour, in conjunction with NHS, provides all staff with training.

We are looking for candidates who have a passion for working with young people with disabilities. It is desired but not essential that candidates hold a relevant qualification at an SCQF level 7 or above. Due to SSSC requirements you may be required to gain qualifications after starting with Aberlour.

Our DAYS Service supports all young people of any gender aged between 8 and 18 who live in Dundee or Angus and have experienced any type of sexual abuse.

We take a flexible approach to planning support to best meet the needs of the young person, this can be school, home, community or at our office. We offer a variety of support for young people and are led by the individual.

1:1 Support - We offer emotional support to survivors. Each session is a safe and confidential space for survivors to process the trauma they have experienced at their own pace. We do this by using a range of therapeutic interventions and tools which are survivor centred.

Group work support - We various creative groups and peer support groups all of which aims to reduce isolation and extend social circles. The aim of these are to build survivors support networks and build survivors confidence, reducing isolation and feelings of blame and shame.

We are seeking an individual who demonstrates a knowledge of the impact of trauma on young people and age-appropriate support tools / methods and can provide and has significant experience of providing trauma-based models of support to young survivors.
