For our Signature Project at the Stafford Centre in Edinburgh, we are looking for someone with experience and understanding of mental health, particularly PTSD, who can use their skills and knowledge proactively to help men manage and overcome the effects of trauma.
In this challenging, impactful new role, you will be responsible for delivering activities which support men over the age of 16 affected by PTSD. You will work alongside the Outreach Worker and Communication Worker to engage and support to men and boys, particularly those who have not come into contact with services before.
The Signature Project is funded my Mental Health UK and our charity partner Lloyds Bank to help communities recover from the pandemic. Specifically, this project will address the increase in referrals from GPs of men who are at risk of suicide. The Support Worker will:
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an experienced support worker who has direct experience of supporting people with their mental health, including people living with complex issues, and who can demonstrate an ability to enable people to develop their own recovery plans. You should be able to evidence partnership working and bring a sound knowledge of the Edinburgh health and social care landscape. You should also be willing to embrace a culture of shared learning and reflection to bring creative solutions to the team. You should develop and sustain effective partnerships with local groups, services and officials; and negotiate access to community-based services and groups, develop creative and innovative ways to reach out to those most isolated and vulnerable to ensure they receive help and support and develop and disseminate accurate information about the service to potential service users.
