Introduction

The Miracle Foundation SCIO (SC049840) is a bereavement and trauma support organisation for Children and Young People between the age of 4 and 19 years old. The organisation’s primary mission is to organise and assist in activities to improve the life conditions of those disadvantaged and under-represented; helping assist in the provision of Children and Young People’s Bereavement and Trauma support services. Based in Motherwell, the charity support Children and Young People via Counselling, Art Therapy and Mental Health services. The organisation bridges a gap in such support services, facilitating early intervention through an inclusive and accessible service for Children and Young People to receive support in times of need.

Job Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, forward-thinking Parent-Child Counsellor/Art Therapist/Play Therapist to join our friendly team. As part of the Miracle Foundation, the Counsellor will provide one to one, group and dyadic therapeutic support to clients on organisation premises (or alternative premises if arranged) for bereavement and trauma support. In addition to you role, you will also be providing specialist assessments of Children and Young People and creating regular psychological reports to feedback to the organisation.

Main Duties:

·To conduct one to one, group and Dyadic (Parent-Child) Counselling sessions both virtually and face to face.

·To encourage clients to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives and help clients to develop insight into themselves and their relationships.

·Identify clients who need further investigation and comprehensive treatment and refer them to appropriate services.

·To work with clients in the recognition of their individual strengths, development of skills and strategies for dealing with emotional problems and assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes.

·To gather information about clients through assessments, observation using approved organisation tolls and prepare/maintain all required counselling records and reports.

·Maintain confidentiality of records relating to client’s treatment.

·To work in accordance with UK policies and procedures including the GDPR regulations, health and safety policy and the equality act.

·To complete and submit Counselling Client recording forms including referral sheets.

·To attend and participate in Clinical Supervision.

·Be proactive in accessing training and personal development opportunities.

·Keep informed of new developments in Counselling particularly as they relate to bereavement and trauma support for Children and Young People.

Person Specification, Essential Skills, and Experience

·Applicants must be a qualified psychologist, psychotherapist, or counsellor (at least completed level-4 diploma) with BAP, BCP, UKCP-CPJA and BACP registered or the equivalent.

·Qualified or trained in providing Dyadic Parent-Child therapeutic services preferred however applicants with only experience in therapeutic services for Adults and Children may be considered.

·Minimum of 1 year as a qualified professional

·Previous professional experience working with Adult, Children and Adolescents, Bereavement and Trauma Support or general Mental Health support.

·A strong team player with excellent communication skills

·Ability to travel and work from various locations within North and South Lanarkshire.

·Full UK Driving License Preferred
