Greener Kirkcaldy is a community-led charity working locally to bring people together, take positive action on the climate emergency and support people through fuel poverty and food insecurity. We deliver a range of projects, events and skills training to achieve the needs and goals of local people – building resilience as a community and working towards a future where everyone can live better and tread more lightly on our planet.

Based in the heart of Kirkcaldy – with a community building, training kitchen, bike shop and garden – we carry out activities across Kirkcaldy and work with partners to deliver projects across Fife.

Growing and connection with nature has central to our work since the beginning. Our community training garden at Ravenscraig Walled Garden is a vibrant space. It offers courses, training and volunteer opportunities in gardening and growing. It also includes a community orchard, with over 100 fruit trees and a ‘wild area’ that is set aside for nature.

As lead partner of Climate Action Fife, we work with others to help people to garden in climate-friendly ways. We’ve helped people to plant fruit trees and we recently created a demonstration climate-friendly garden at our community building garden in Kirkcaldy town centre. We are always looking for new opportunities to help local people connect with nature on their doorstep.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to lead and develop our growing and nature connection projects work.

As part of our Community Engagement Team, you will work with staff, volunteers and partners. You will plan and deliver a diverse range of events, training and volunteer opportunities around growing and nature. We are keen to strengthen our ‘Plot to Plate’ activities, so you will work with our Community Food Team to connect growing with cooking classes, meals and food access projects.

You will play a key role developing new projects and activities, both grant-funded and income generating. You will support a Community Garden Worker and an enthusiastic team of mixed-ability volunteers to maintain and develop our community gardens and coordinate day-to-day activities.

You don’t need to be an expert in climate change or biodiversity. We will provide training and you will be supported by a great team.

This role is key in building power in our movement to win a better transport system in Scotland – one that cuts climate emissions, connects communities and is run in the interests of passengers, not profit.

Transport is Scotland’s largest polluting sector, so tackling the transport system is vital for cutting fossil fuel use and climate emissions.

The focus of this role is our campaign for better buses. Our vision is of an accessible, extensive, publicly-owned bus network that’s free for everyone. A comprehensive, reliable bus network is essential for tackling climate change and reducing inequality – connecting communities and getting people out of private cars. However, the current network is run by private operators, often expensive and unreliable with routes cut and standards declining.

Friends of the Earth Scotland is committed to building a powerful movement for system change, and we believe that communities must take the lead in the transition away from our car-dominated system, so that what replaces it works for all of Scotland.

The successful candidate will have experience and skills in local organising or supporting volunteers. We are looking for someone who can bring new people into the movement, and support and motivate volunteers and local organisers in their communities.

Circular Communities Scotland is a network membership organisation, dedicated to supporting the establishment of a thriving circular economy in Scotland. We support and represent repair, reuse and recycling charities and social enterprises across the country. Our members prevent valuable products and materials from entering landfill, create local jobs, economic opportunities, and help promote and create social and environmental justice in their communities.

This is a new role for the organisation and the Circular Economy Policy Officer will be responsible for:

1. Developing and overseeing Circular Communities Scotland’s core circular economy policy positions.
2. Promoting our reuse manifesto in the run up to the Scottish Elections in May 2026 including running a hustings style event.
3. Running a post-election campaign targeting Members of Scottish Parliament (MSPs), our membership and wider stakeholder organisations.
4. Working with Scottish Government to see key policy asks enacted.
5. Working with our membership to involve them in our policy work.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a strong candidate who has a minimum of two years’ experience in a policy formation or campaigning role at a national level. The candidate will be able to quickly get up to speed with our circular economy policy positions and indeed develop these positions further. An ability to network and build relationships with civil servants and elected representatives is also important.

We require a dynamic and proactive individual who will be capable of planning, launching and sustaining a policy campaign to support our Reuse Manifesto. We are expecting candidates to have strong communication and interpersonal skills along with a proven track record in managing multiple delivery workstreams.

The Green Action Trust is Scotland’s leading environmental regeneration charity and a trusted delivery partner for the Scottish Government and a wide range of public, private, and non-profit partners. We are recruiting a Community Engagement Project Assistant to support the delivery of the River Park Programme, a key part of the wider Leven Programme, an ambitious regional regeneration initiative shaped with and for the local community.

In this role, you will help bring the River Park vision to life by supporting the organisation, promotion, and delivery of a varied programme of community events and activities. Working closely with colleagues, partners, and residents, you will help ensure activities are well planned, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Your responsibilities will include coordinating event logistics, assisting with set-up and materials, helping to create social media content, maintaining schedules and contact lists, gathering participant feedback, and supporting administrative tasks such as note-taking and resource tracking. You’ll also play an important role in engaging local groups and promoting activities to ensure the programme reaches a wide and diverse audience. Some evening and weekend work will be required, arranged in advance.

We are looking for someone with strong local knowledge of the Levenmouth area, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well as part of a team. You should be comfortable using basic IT tools and open to learning new skills, with support provided. An interest in community engagement, events, or working with local groups, families, or schools would be an advantage.
