Role

Are you passionate about storytelling and have a keen interest in working in the charitable sector?

The STV Children’s Appeal was launched in 2011 by The Hunter Foundation and STV. A fantastic opportunity has come up to join the STV Children’s Appeal team. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and organisational skills, as well as engaging and concise copywriting skills, and will enjoy working with multiple stakeholders.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about storytelling, enjoys team working and has a keen interest in the charitable sector. Absolutely central to this role is ensuring that the voices of children and families affected by poverty are front and centre of all our communications.

Relationship building with charities, fundraisers, media and wider STV staff is key to making this role a success – we expect you to be committed, out and about and always happy to talk about the STV Children’s Appeal with confidence and knowledge.

  • Facilitating and attending stakeholder events.
  • Preparing briefings for multiple stakeholder audiences based on both current research and STV Appeal in house reports.

  • Managing photography.
  • Media relations.
  • Visiting charity sites and organising/running photo calls.
  • Liaison with talent and STV staff to attend events.
  • Assist in any other aspect of the work of the company as reasonably required.

Skills & experience:

  • Demonstrable depth of experience working in a communications and content creator role, preferably gained within the charitable sector.
  • Experience of running social media accounts and creating video content using software such as Canva/Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong copywriting skills for websites, newsletters and social media.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to collaborate and build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of using a CMS (content management system) would be advantageous.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in all aspects of work output.
  • Excellent organisation, prioritisation and forward planning skills required to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Good IT skills, including a knowledge of, and interest in, digital communications including social media.
  • A positive and proactive attitude to work both independently and collaboratively with others.

Benefits:

There are plenty of reasons why it’s great to work at STV, here are just a few of the perks for you:

  • 25 days leave and 9 public holidays per annum, with the option to buy more through our Holiday Extras scheme, and an extra day’s holiday on your birthday.

  • Flexible benefits portal providing a range of retail and gym discounts.

We’re happy to talk about hybrid working to help you balance work, life, and to achieve your goals in both – we’re focused on creating an inclusive working environment where colleagues can collaborate, create and thrive to deliver results and perform at their best.
