Financial Accountant

Role

To carry out and record all financial transactions of the charity and provide regular reports relating to income and expenditure to the Management (St Bride’s) group and Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Prepare regular fee notes for each resident for submission to local authorities. Record these transactions and record receipt of monies in the accounting system. Collect, record and disburse where necessary state benefits for residents and carry out the function of Corporate Appointee.
  • Receive and check for correctness, all purchase and expense invoices against orders. Record these costs in the accounting system and make and record payments regularly to suppliers.
  • Maintain and balance the petty cash system and liaise with staff to ensure proper use.
  • Manage, maintain and prepare staff details leading to the preparation of monthly payroll. Liaise with payroll office to ensure correct payment of hours worked by staff.
  • Record all transactions onto Xero accounting system in a regular and timeous manner.
  • Carry out bank reconciliations each week and report cash flow position to the Manager.
  • Prepare monthly Xero accounts for the St Bride’s group and quarterly management accounts for the Directors.
  • Attend monthly meetings of the management (St Bride’s) group.
  • Prepare annual budgets in liaison with the Management (St Bride’s) Group.
  • Assist with the management and control of the Charity’s facilities including property, insurance, utilities, and equipment in conjunction with the St Bride’s group.

Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous experience in and responsibility for the operation of an accounting system and financial reporting.
  • The use of Xero
  • The use of excel or similar, and word in order to produce reports and information.
  • The preparation of monthly and quarterly accounts and reports
  • The preparation of annual accounts for audit
  • The understanding and preparation of budgets and cash flow information
  • The ability to discuss and advise the Registered Manager, the St Bride’s group and Board of Directors on financial matters.

NOTE

This description refers to the full range of the work. It is envisaged that the responsibilities and tasks will be introduced on a gradual basis to allow a strong development of each stage.

Terms and Conditions of Service

Hours of Work: 16 per week to be to be arranged by mutual agreement

Holidays: 30 days per annum

Salary: Negotiable

We are an active community based on a working, mixed, Biodynamic farm providing residential support and land based supported activity to adults with support needs. We sell good quality meat, dairy products, vegetables, and wool. We also encourage educational visits and host seminars on biodynamic farming and gardening. We are in the process of developing our buildings and members to expand these activities growing our business to improve our sustainability.
