Role

Our Service in Dundee enables people who use substances to have the information, advice and support they need to recover and live a healthy and fulfilled life.

The Service is targeted primarily at Adults aged 16 and over who are:

  • Using substances (Psycho-Stimulant Users, Cannabis Users, Psychoactive Substance Users, Solvent Users, non dependent Opiate Users, non dependent Alcohol Users);
  • Families and carers affected by substance use.

The interventions offered will be available to residents of Dundee City.

The service will have a focus on enabling people who use substances, their Carers and families to:

  • Be identified, respected and involved
  • Have a positive experience of the services they access
  • Live independent, healthy and fulfilled lives
  • Experience high quality locality based support.
  • Financial Return

The overall objectives of the Service are to work collaboratively with partners to deliver outcome focused, high quality and accessible information and supports as part of an Integrated Health, Social Care and Third Sector Substance Use Service.

This includes but not limited to:

  • A range of supports which identify people who use substances at an early stage in order to improve personal outcomes, prevent dependency and reduce health inequalities.
  • Supports that are outcome focused, high quality, locally based and available when people using substances and their family members / carers need them.
  • Supports which enable people who use substances to achieve their outcomes by building upon individual strengths and skills and enable people to become active citizens of Dundee.
  • Communications and activity which raises awareness and addresses stigma within communities affected by substance use.
  • Evidence based practice in supporting people who use substances and their families which also ensures compliance with local and national standards, including health and social care standards and professional codes of practice.
  • Arrangements which ensure risk of harm to children and adults are identified and responded to in line with legal requirements and local procedures and guidance.
  • Collaborative working and approaches with local statutory, third and independent sector partners. This includes attendance at appropriate strategic planning and working groups

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with the skills & knowledge of working in a fast paced Drug & Alcohol Service and who has experience of managing staff, has good communications skills and has the enthusiasm and drive to lead a team of 8 staff members.
