Role

The Archdiocese of St Andrew’s and Edinburgh is seeking to appoint a Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser to lead a professional safeguarding service for the Archdiocese. The role of the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser is to advise and assist the Archbishop in meeting his safeguarding responsibilities. This includes ensuring standards of safe recruitment for all church personnel, clergy, and lay volunteers, and implementing the mandatory Safeguarding training programme. The Advisor will also be responsible for responding to any complaints of a safeguarding nature in accordance with agreed National Catholic Safeguarding guidelines.

You should have extensive experience of delivering safeguarding services gained from either a social work, police, education, health, or legal setting. With strong leadership and organisational skills, you will be responsible for complex and challenging casework. You will also be confident in co-ordinating and chairing meetings and in line-managing two team members.
