Role

Glasgow Association for Mental Health is one of the principal providers of community mental health services in Greater Glasgow. It aims to provide high quality support both to those who are experiencing mental health difficulties and to their unpaid carers. GAMH is committed to the principles of Recovery and to raising the awareness and understanding of Mental Health issues.

GAMH have been commissioned by Glasgow City Carers Partnership (GCCP) to deliver support to unpaid carers through our two new CARERS CENTRES in the West and South West of the city.

GCCP operates within the requirements of the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 and all carers are routinely offered a Carer Support Plan or Young Carer Statement. Information and supports are provided with partners in a personalised response which is proportionate to identified outcomes, needs and risk. As part of the GCCP, GAMH works closely with the Social Work Carer Support Teams which are located in each of the 3 sectors of the city

We wish to appoint the following:

Family Support Worker

(37.5 HOURS PER WEEK) (Ref: FSW)

(One year fixed term)

(May be extended subject to funding)

The Carers Centres provide inclusive and holistic support to carers to maintain their quality of life and enhance their capacity to maintain their health and wellbeing through the provision of a range of person centred, coordinated, and outcome focussed services.

Our carer support services promote choice, control and independence for carers, tailoring solutions to carers’ specific needs as far as possible and connecting them with their community.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the values and attitude required to work with people who are living with mental health problems and who may have complex needs.

Knowledge of the SSSC’s Codes of Practice and the National Care Standards and how this framework applies to practice is preferred for all posts. A qualification at SVQ2 or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards achieving this qualification is essential.

All applicants must be able to work flexibly; some early morning, evening and weekend working will be required. Full induction and training will be provided.

These posts are regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An offer of work with Glasgow Association for Mental Health will be subject to the outcome of this check being satisfactory.
