Role

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the main support and development agency for the third sector and volunteering in Dundee. Due to impending retirement, DVVA are seeking their next Chief Executive to take forward an exciting vision that addresses inclusion and poverty in a city full of challenge and potential!

DVVA is an established and dynamic charity, with more than sixty-five years’ experience, supporting and advocating on behalf of voluntary and community organisations in the city. In this role, you will lead DVVA, a key partner in Dundee’s Third Sector Interface (TSI) and the central city hub for third sector and volunteer information; data; learning and support.

You will ensure the third sector has a voice in local and national policy and planning by demonstrating how the vital work of charities, community groups and volunteers transforms lives. And you will champion the sector, foster meaningful relationships and partnerships and work to influence resource allocation to ensure the third sector is recognised and rewarded for the work it does. You will also inspire and empower the diverse and talented team at DVVA to support this endeavour and to do their best work every day.

You will be responsible for delivering an ambitious strategy and securing funds to support this as well as overseeing sound financial planning; organisational development and operational management. In doing so, you will ensure that DVVA continues to deliver core services to the highest standards whilst increasing its profile, developing income streams, and realising its strategic vision.

You will be creative and self-motivated, a skilled communicator able to confidently act as ambassador and the public face of DVVA. And you will be passionate about bringing positive change and improving the lives of the people of Dundee.

You don’t need to have been a Chief Executive – this role represents an excellent opportunity for the right person to step up to a top leadership role. You may currently be a charity depute chief executive; functional director or senior manager. You may have served as a charity chair, office bearer or trustee. You may bring leadership skills from the public or private sector but have a keen interest in and alignment with the values of the third sector. What matters is that you care deeply about poverty and the disadvantaged and have the motivation, energy and passion to make a difference in this complex and exciting city which is undergoing massive change and transformation.

In return you’ll enjoy a generous package of benefits including a salary of c.£53,000 -£60,000 per annum; an employer contributory pension scheme; and 25 days annual leave (rising to 28 after 5 years) plus 11 public holidays. DVVA offers a flexible working policy; strives to be a family friendly organisation and is committed to supporting development and learning through CPD. A contribution towards relocation may also be available, where appropriate.
