Lanarkshire Links is mental health service user and carer led Registered Charity SC033933 whose main focus is supporting service users and carers to be involved in the design and delivery of mental health and social care services.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our diverse team of workers who are committed to promoting the welfare and advancing the education of people affected by mental health issues across Lanarkshire. We are a friendly team committed to supporting people with the lived experience back into the workplace.
You will join a group of four Peer Workers working across the adult mental health inpatient wards within the general hospitals in Lanarkshire. You will be line managed by Lanarkshire Links Development Manager and supervision will be available to you in your workplace. You will be part of the multidisciplinary team within the ward who will also be available for day-to-day support.
Lanarkshire Links has a long history of promoting Recovery and tackling the stigma that surrounds mental health and employ the Stigma Free Lanarkshire Project Team.
Peers are people who have a shared experience of mental health problems and recovery.
Peers can use this lived experience to help other people who are facing similar challenges.
Peers also use their expertise to inform the development of new policies and improve services by using their own lived experience to help design and deliver services. You will have the opportunity with the rest of the team to attend our quarterly members meetings where we support service users and their carers (our member) to engage with the statutory and voluntary sector service providers.
Applicants will use their lived experience and skills to work alongside the patient in the ward to enhance recovery throughout their hospital stay and on into the community.
When you commence employment, you will be provided with an orientation programme including the opportunity to work alongside one of the peer worker team.
You will have the opportunity to join monthly meetings with the full staff team.
You will take responsibility to complete training required for your role.

Work location: Our peer workers are employed within the adult mental health inpatient wards in University Hospitals Wishaw and Hairmyres.
