The Glasgow Food Policy Partnership (GFPP) is a multisector partnership including public, private and third sector organisations who work collectively towards a fairer, healthier, more sustainable and resilient food system. The partnership seeks to share information across sectors, inform policy and strategy, promote collaboration and stimulate action towards this vision. In June 2021 GFPP and its partners launched Glasgow City Food Plan (GCFP), a 10 year plan that we hope will make Glasgow a better city to live in. GFPP oversees the delivery of the plan.
The post holder will be employed by Glasgow Community Food Network (GCFN), a GFPP partner representing people and organisations who grow, cook and eat food – they share a GFPP vision of a city that has a sustainable and resilient food system that is fair for all. GCFN also runs various city-wide food related projects/campaigns, and the post holder would connect with their teams as part of this work.
In June 2021 Glasgow was awarded national Sustainable Food Places Bronze Award recognising the success of taking a joined up, holistic approach to food and achieving significant positive change on a range of key food issues. To follow on from this, we want to super charge the city towards receiving a silver award in 2023. In order to do this, we want to create a strong identity for this work through a wide-reaching communications campaign and an activities programme for Glasgow. The purpose of this role is to develop and deliver this new city-wide campaign to get as many people as possible on board with Glasgow’s ‘Good Food Movement’ building on the momentum of COP26 and the actions of the GCFP. We want to make sure to be able to communicate the right messages about the progress of the plan and to enthuse organisations, businesses and individuals to take actions towards making Glasgow into a Sustainable Food City where everyone can celebrate fresh, seasonal, local, environmentally friendly and ethical food.
Support, supervision, and line management will be provided by Sustainable Food Cities Co-Ordinator with extra support from the GFPP Communications Working Group. Computer and IT support is provided by Glasgow Community Food Network.
This role is 18 hours per week funded for a duration of 1 year (from start date) at £25,662 FTE.
Please send a CV and Covering Letter by the application deadline to: hello@glasgowfood.net with ‘Good Food Movement Co-ordinator’ on the subject line. Your Covering Letter should detail why you are suitable for this post. Please also provide 2 up to date and relevant referees.”
