Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Scottish Women’s Aid team, as Operations Manager (job share). This role will ensure that Scottish Women’s Aid continues to be a vibrant and effective organisation and is therefore well placed to continue to influence and respond effectively to the changing policy and legislative landscape in Scotland, in relation to domestic abuse and the human rights of women and children affected by domestic abuse.

The Organisation

Scottish Women’s Aid has worked for over 40 years to eradicate domestic abuse and promote effective policy and practice responses for women, children and young people who experience domestic abuse. Policy and campaigning work is a key part of what we do, and we are the umbrella organisation for 36 autonomous Women’s Aid groups delivering direct services to women, children and young people across Scotland.

What You’ll Do

You will ensure that SWA and its activities benefit from effective infrastructure services and will manage key functions such as Finance, Administration, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Human Resources (HR), Health & Safety, contract and risk management. You will also support the Chief Executive to ensure that the Governance Structures of the organisation are robust and effective, and the Board is adequately supported to provide the strategic leadership of the organisation.

What We Need

The successful candidate will have management experience, including financial management, service development and delivery, experience of strategic planning and developing and reviewing policies and procedures. Line management experience is also essential.

We’re looking for someone who has

  • Knowledge and understanding of the policy and legislative context and the environment in which SWA operates, including the opportunities and risks it faces
  • Knowledge and understanding of finance and funding mechanisms in the charity/ third sector
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to engage staff, and how to establish a positive and productive culture
  • Knowledge of tools or methods such as development of business cases, funding submissions, risk assessment
