Are you passionate about supporting people who have or are experiencing homelessness to achieve and sustain housing stability, reduce health inequalities, and recover from substance misuse?
The Service
Launched in 2018, WDP Merton is a fully integrated substance misuse service, providing clinical and psychosocial interventions, operating from a main treatment hub, with additional satellites within the community. The team actively promotes recovery and works with individuals that are directly and indirectly affected by substance misuse, working with the local community to improve the health, wellbeing and functioning of Merton residents and those with ties to Merton, irrespective of circumstance.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference to the lives of people who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. The post-holder will support the existing WDP team of recovery practitioners and clinicians and work closely with our Complex Needs Homelessness Practitioner to support a caseload of complex and vulnerable service users of WDP who may be engaged with or on the edge of multiple services. You will provide them with face-to-face, focussed, and frequent contact around their substance misuse and recovery, and support them to achieve greater stability in their lives.
We are seeking applications from committed, organised, and highly motivated candidates, with knowledge and experience of the challenges affecting people with substance misuse and related health and wellbeing issues, who are also experiencing homelessness or are in temporary accommodation.
WDP Merton is a thriving service making positive changes in service users’ lives, through a non-judgemental, recovery-based approach that values the strengths and choices of those individuals. Through joining WDP you will receive a warm welcome, peer support, training, regular supervision, and the chance to thrive in a lively and innovative service.
Location
The role is based at the Merton hub in Mitcham but will involve travel out of borough to meet with service users who are temporarily housed in areas such as Wandsworth and Croydon and their housing support workers, and to attend regular meetings of the Merton Homeless Persons’ Unit and other meetings as required. Travel expenses are provided.
