Role

To lead on and implement a dynamic and proactive fundraising strategy to maximise income generation from all income streams including corporates, events, trusts and foundations, individuals, major donors, legacies and the community for both restricted and unrestricted funds.

Job Activities

Fundraising

  • To work with the Head of Corporate and Business Services in developing and implementing the fundraising strategy which aligns with Aberdeen Cyrenians’ overall organisational strategy, aim, vision and values.
  • To deliver a multi-stream fundraising strategy to build unrestricted as well as restricted income.
  • To keep up-to-date on best practice within the charity sector generally and particularly changes to fundraising regulation, legislation and codes of practice and ensure best practice is adhered to.
  • To manage, monitor and evaluate the income generation financial budgets and resources.
  • To initiate, build and maintain positive relationships with all supporters, funders, donors and key stakeholders
  • To oversee the research, preparation and submission of fundraising applications, ensuring funding applications are submitted in a timely manner and to report back to funders in accordance with their guidelines.
  • To ensure the accurate recording of donor information and the timely acknowledgement of donations in line with best practice.
  • To report back to funders on grants secured providing monitoring and evaluation against KPIs.
  • To oversee the database, Donorfy, and ensure proper management, segmentation and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Fundraising Database

  • To be responsible for the fundraising database – Donorfy.
  • To produce reports from database as required to help management reporting.
  • To liaise with Corporate Services Team re financial recording.

Communications

  • To support the Marketing and Communications Coordinator as required in relation to any internal and external communications.
  • To assist in marketing and promotional information about our services.
  • To assist in developing and maintaining relationships with the media.
  • To give talks / presentation on behalf of Aberdeen Cyrenians.
  • To deal with a range of calls and enquiries from the public who are interested in the work of Aberdeen Cyrenians.

Management Responsibilities

  • To support the Head of Corporate and Business Services in creating and delivering an organisational fundraising strategy.
  • To act as an Ambassador for the charity at all times.
  • To build and maintain good relations with Aberdeen Cyrenians staff, partners, stakeholders and involve them as appropriate in fundraising.
  • To attend and contribute to Board and staff meetings as required.
  • To lead, manage and develop the Fundraising Team.
  • To support and manage the Fundraising Admin and Volunteer Coordinators.
  • To provide fundraising reports as required by the CEO, Head of Corporate and Business Services and the Board.

  • Carry out other relevant work commensurate with the post as required by the Head of Corporate and Business Services.

Requirements

Essentials

  • A sound knowledge of fundraising and the current fundraising environment.
  • Experience in managing others.
  • A record of achieving successful outcomes.
  • Experience of organising workloads and of planning to meet deadlines.
  • General administrative experience including handling correspondence, filing, maintaining records and developing systems.
  • An understanding of the current fundraising environment and issues and in particular issues surrounding fundraising for social injustices.
  • The ability to work creatively and design and produce effective presentations.
  • The ability to appropriately use own initiative and maximise contributions to the team.
  • The ability to manage a team of people with varying goals and objectives.
  • The ability to communicate with a wide range of people in different settings.
  • The ability to write clearly and concisely, using appropriate language.
  • Proficient in using word, excel and database computer packages
  • Clean Driving Licence
  • Able to work some evenings/weekends
  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate, respect and embrace the aims and values of the work Aberdeen Cyrenians carry out.

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level
  • Member of the Institute of Fundraising Managers.
