Role
Circular Communities Scotland (previously CRNS) are delighted to be launching this exciting project in partnership with Cycling Scotland. Put simply we want to grow bike reuse across Scotland and therefore affordable access to bikes, significantly over the next three years. This role will be at the heart of driving that transformation.
Circular Communities Scotland is a membership network with a vision for a thriving circular economy in Scotland with local communities benefiting from the social, environmental, and economic outcomes. With a growing membership of over 200 charities and social enterprises we are always looking for new ways to support the circular community’s sector and see our vision become a reality.
Following on from a recent research project commissioned by Cycling Scotland several actions have been identified that would progress greater bike reuse in Scotland. Circular Communities Scotland will work with partners to progress these actions by hosting this role. This is an exciting project which involves working with a wide range of senior stakeholders including Cycling Scotland and Scottish Government as well as the bike reuse sector itself.
If you are the successful candidate, you will be responsible for setting up this project from scratch and running it. You would prepare a wide variety of deliverables, manage the project, and build relationships with key stakeholders within and beyond the sector. This is a real opportunity to increase bike reuse in Scotland, improve affordable access to bikes and combat climate and social injustice.
We are also determined to get the right person to join our strong team which is why we are open to exploring different options regarding place of work from office based to remote working. This initial project is planned to run for three years (subject to funding continuing) albeit we would also hope to deliver long-term sustainability beyond this.
We are looking for a strong self-starter with a proven track record of delivery so you can hit the ground running. You need to be a strong communicator, self-organised and able to manage a complex range of deliverables over a fairly short period of time. You need to be passionate about sustainability in general and demonstrate awareness of the circular economy and the Active Travel Framework.

Job Purpose:
Working as part of FEL's Schools team, the Active Travel Hub Schools Link Officer will play a key role in delivering FEL Scotland’s schools active travel programme this year. This exciting position will target support where it is most needed within each school community, helping to promote sustainable travel and community engagement.
You will act as one of the primary points of contact between FEL Active Travel School Hubs and FEL Scotland staff, establishing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders including school administrators, teachers, community groups, and local authorities. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to ensure that all our sessions run smoothly and efficiently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Stakeholder Management:
- Act as one of the primary points of contact between schools and FEL Scotland staff.
- Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders including school administrators, teachers, community groups, and local authorities.
Consistent and Coordinated Communication & Logistics:
- Work with the Schools Coordinator to maintain clear, consistent, and coordinated communication between schools and FEL Scotland staff, including meetings and delivery.
- Address any communication gaps or issues promptly to maintain smooth operations.
- Maintain records of communication and schedules to ensure this information is up-to-date and accessible.
- Provide logistical support to the Active Travel team, streamlining processes and procedures where applicable for both schools and the Community ebike Library rental.
- Working with FEL Communications Officer, distribute newsletters, reports, and updates to keep stakeholders informed about upcoming events and progress.
Staff Support:
- Ensure all logistical aspects of events and delivery are managed efficiently (e.g., venue booking).
- Coordinate and support FEL school staff schedules to ensure all sessions have adequate staff for delivery.
- Work with FEL community officers to assist with the coordination of the Bike Buddies programme including liaising with feeder primary schools to confirm dates for delivery and pupil numbers.
- Assist with the running of the FEL Scotland Bike Library including liaising with service users, and helping with enquiries
This role will support FEL’s mission to increase everyday cycling, walking, and wheeling journeys.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience of supporting the smooth running of a team or project with varied delivery and stakeholders.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for promoting walking, wheeling and cycling.
- Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software.
Desirable:
- A degree or equivalent work experience in education, logistics, administration, communication, event management, or a related field.
- Experience working in or with schools.
- Knowledge of active travel and sustainability initiatives.
- Familiarity with the Forth Valley region and its educational landscape.
- Full UK driver’s license

I Bike Schools Officer

About the role
The I Bike Project has been running since 2009 in Scotland, working with schools around the country, promoting healthy travel choices in Education. As the I Bike Schools Officer you will work with selected schools around the Bearsden and Milngavie areas of East Dunbartonshire to promote cycling, scooting and walking to and from school and other journeys.
This holder of this position supports school staff and volunteers, promoting active travel within the school community. You will harness local authority resources available for active travel and create connections between schools, external partners and the bicycle industry.
Candidates should be based within the geographical area with regular travel expected and the option of working hybrid from the nearest hub base in Glasgow.
About you
You should have experience of working with children and young people. Along with working in schools, community groups, environment projects or young people in another setting.
You will also have good written and verbal communication skills. Excellent presentation skills and report writing skills alongside the ability to engage with a wide range of age-groups. You will be able to prioritise your own workload.
You will have undertaken or be willing to undertake the National Standard cycle Instructor training and bike maintenance training.
A UK clean, valid driving license is vital for this role.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans’ Infrastructure Development Support programme.
As the Training Manager, you will have overall responsibility for creating and implementing multiple bespoke training packages for delivery partners across Scotland that relate to Active Travel infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the packages respond to the individual needs and specific context of each partner and contribute to the delivery of high-quality infrastructure.
As the Training Manager, you will be supported by a Training Coordinator, and you will have line management responsibilities for this role and task management responsibility for capacity-building teams. You should have extensive experience of planning and delivering workshops and training events for professionals as well as developing training content suitable for different audiences.
